Momo (peach in Japanese) is an ordinary schoolgirl...except for the fact that she is almost permenently tan with broad shoulders since she was on the swim team during Jr. High and has blonde hair, which makes her look like an easy-goer. But she is just the opposite: she is shy, and is very self-concious especially after hearing from her friend that her crush Toji likes light-skinned girls. It doesn't help to have a "friend" (Sae) next to her who is very popular because of her pure, white skin and delicate features, and tries to make Momo look bad every chance she gets. Another boy comes in the picture, who, for right now, lends a shoulder whenever Momo is exhausted from Sae's doings or just depressed because of her relationship with Toji...
A story of school romance, betrayal, three-some relationship, with a sniviling fiend who just works up the flame.

This story will never leave you bored, you will be yearning for more. There is a romantic story, which can be really serious, but the real fun comes because Sae manages to twist everything up (more and more as the story progresses) in such a way you can't guess the results. (she is even able to turn flat to her advantage) which is so nice because mixed in with the realistic story, there is a "animation" part to it.

Main 4 characters:

Momo = very tan, blonde, and self-conscious schoolgirl with broad shoulders who, unlike her appearance, is shy...especially around Toji. Yet she has an energetic personality around Kiley, who supports her.

Toji = Momo's crush and a very mature guy who is one of the two most popular guys in school. However, he is popular because of his gentle personality.

Kiley = (My fav!) Kiley, on the other hand, is very energetic and outgoing. Also known as a player because he seems to get multiple girls' phone numbers along with a date each day (his specialty) but does his true heart lie elsewhere? A shoulder for Momo when she is depressed, but maybe a lilttle more as the story progresses...and maybe even more in Peach Girl: Change of Heart.

Sae = I might say that she is the true center of the story in the first season, because she is what keeps the story going. She, contrasting with Momo, looks innocent on the outside, but she is letcherous on the inside, trying to make herself look better by making Momo look horrible next to her. It is amazing what plans she comes up with. You will learn to hate and love her at the same time.

Each character has a different personality so that you can really relate or sympathize with any of them. For me, I liked Kiley's energetic personality which is needed in a manga character instead of Toji's regular realistic personality. That is why fans are split up into supporters of Kiley and Toji. Sae's character you learn to hate because of her deeds yet you learn to love her because for a while she is the wheel that turns the story. Momo, however, she does get rather annoying because of her indecisiveness (while others don't mind her). I would consider her the reactant to those characters around her: others show their true self by interacting with her.

Drawing Style
The characters are very well drawn, the scenery and objects are realistic looking which mingles very well with the style. Miwa Ueda has a very clean and organized style. Also, the guys are awesomely hott! The one thing I liked was, compared to other mangas, there is very little dialogue in each bubble, so the story seems upbeat and fast; you do not have to get caught up in one dialogue bubble because one is telling a huge story (like some manga). I finished one volume in 10 miniutes.

Very enjoyable: fast paced and exciting. Although it is centered around romance, it has humor and thrills mixed in. It is a romantic drama, I guess you can call it that (they made one based on this in Taiwan). Lots and lots of drama that leaves your heart squirming!

A very enjoyable series. Highly recommended. It gets better since there is a 2nd season called Peach Girl: Change of Heart (guess who she likes now ^o^). Review coming soon.
