A remarkable story of a girl Lucy who is a Diclonius (human mutant with scary powers and rather cute horns). Lucy hates mankind and blames it all on her colorful childhood. After brutally killing few dozens of people she ends up being captured by government. They put her in some experimental institution where did all sorts of crazy tests on her. So story starts as she escapes and gets shot in the head. She is later found washed up on the shore by a couple of teenagers. But Lucy in no longer Lucy, having lost all her memory she can’t speak, can barely walk and knows absolutely nothing.
So the couple takes her in, but what they don't know is that Lucy isn't dead. So every time Nyu (Second personality of Lucy) hits her head Lucy comes out to play. This is a very brutal yet cute story on how characters cope with this mysterious monster Lucy/child Nyu. Of course government wants her back so there is plenty of action.

Lucy/Nyu is a mysterious mutant girl (looks normal to me) with telekinetic powers which can do some serious damage. After being shot in the head during her escape she adopts a second personality of caring child Nyu.

Kouta is boy who found Nyu on the beach. Being very sweet and caring takes her in. He lives in an old inn with his cousin Yuka. Has a crash on both Nyu and Yuka.

Yuka is a sweet and caring cousin of Kouta. She has a massive crash on him despite that he likes Nyu. Doesnt like Nyu much coz she is always around Kouta.

There are plenty more characters, listing them all will take too long. Character development is very good and we see how they are all connected.

Drawing style is standard, nothing special (as far as I can see). Characters are drown in a child manner. So the story is very bloody yet characters still look cute. (Sort of like Happy Tree Friends)

I watched the series first and thought it was excellent. But like with all other anime lots is left out so I came back to manga. I enjoyed reading it but found it rather repetitive . It follows the series very closely. So if you don’t like reading manga I suggest you watch the series.

Overall I think this story excellent. Nowadays there is lots of crap and original stories are rare. This manga is very neatly done and gives a reader plenty of enjoyment. I'd recommend reading it first before watching the series. Ah almost forgot, there is always a catch.... The series finished off in mid air but manga isn’t finished yet so go figure. The story goes on....can’t wait for next chapter...

Very biased by spikebaby on November 14th, 2010, 1:50pm

No offense but you didn't even attempt to point out any flaws of the story. It is not perfect, it does not deserve a 5 in all categories and if you had just made an effort to write objectively you wouldn't make people think you're mindlessly overrating this series, which is what you're doing. The art's horrible btw and i'm just saying, be a little less biased.

good, but not great by charsiewpau on October 17th, 2009, 8:48pm

interesting premise with the invisible hand superpower thing, but the flow and direction of the story is a bit boring, at least for me. Not surprising at all when it ended the way it did.

I liked the anime but the manga I find kind of boring and I agree with some of the users. How can this get a perfect score? The story line get's a bit odd later on. I don't understand how this can get a 5 and Bleach gets a 3.8!!!

I wouldn't rate this a 10/10. That would mean this manga is perfect-- and believe me, no manga out there is perfect. Even Hikaru no go, D Grayman, Detective Academy Q, FMA, Overdrive, Naruto, Bleach, etc, etc. don't receive a perfect 10 (unless people overrate thir fave manga/anime). Having Elfen Lied rate 10 made me shook my head.

Overall, i did enjoyed reading your review ^^

I am not sure.. I loved the anime, which in this a first for me, I always prefer the manga better. The story and what's happening interesting but in the manga thats abuot it.. they are poorly drwan but I mean REALLY, the chars remaind me mise when they torn left or right.. But, the anime is really good, exepet of it's lengh(too short,13 ep) so things proggres too quickly. And Kouta, when he regains his memories he actualy kisses Lucy!!! this is dumb... she killed his father and little sister so come on, kissing her?.. In the manga it is not like this.. So because of the difference in the manga and the anime I'll give it a "" 4.5 to the anime and 2 to the manga.

This is sopused to be the manga review right? so how can you give it a perfect 10?!!! no way.
The manga is far from a 10/10 especialy the drawing... so come on.. only the art is a 2 or somthing..
