(80 posts, 17129 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by Grumpy in News
Well, since you asked, though late, I suppose a response is in order. (I don't really check MU news...)

To the question at the end: you draw a line in a different place than I do. You draw the line of what's acceptable vs unacceptable where exchange of money takes place. I...

New Poll - Scanlation Ethics
(80 posts, 17129 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by Grumpy in News
In free market, ie sans regulation, the very notion of intellectual property, piracy or illegal distribution wouldn't exist. Although made up in such way to mislead, intellectual property is a single definition that cannot be separated into two words. It's not a property ...
How many percents do scanlated manga account for the total number of manga in Japan?
(16 posts, 3571 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by Grumpy in Manga General
If you count the old mangas (albeit staying post WW2), the 28% should drop even more as many of them aren't listed here. And frankly, it's hard to even find out the titles with all of google searching powers. They are, "lost art", imo. And I don't think anyone wants to be...

To top it off, germans apologized and shunned their acts during the world wars. Japan on the other hand still deny that they ever committed genocide and never apologized for their actions.

Here's a List of war apology statements issued b...

So, in other words, you find your parents "traditional". lol

But perhaps you should be trying to take an impartial view on this. Your parents saw and experienced a world much different than yours. To assume your parents would have the same ideals and views would be to assu...

Dragon & Fly Scans

I'm 99.99999999% sure they are a group created by MF to scanlate things where they have difficulty just uploading what other scanlators produce (like btooom due to watermark). It also wouldn't be their first time and definitely not the first manga reader to do this either...

Um... all the dmca/copyright talk...

Let's summarize this simply.
dmca = land of litigation only. Get out and done. Most scanlators are NOT in USA anyway.
international copyright/berne convention. Just look at the countries that didn't sign.
I think the legal problem is now o...

20 groups making money or MF where 1 person is making money? BRING DOWN THE HAMMER ON THE 20 GROUPS!!" lol

Suing 20 people is 20x harder than suing 1 person. I don't see how your logic works.
It's also 20x harder to collect the actual money. And it...

such group actually exists?

Not really. Check the watermark on mangafox and then mangahere. It should speak for itself then.

Though... technically, it depends on the definition. We could say it exists...

Online reader scripts.

Two most popular ones currently are "Online Manga Reader" and "Foolz Reader" / "Fool Slide"

OMR (with mod) is what's being used by Easy Going Scans for example and was used previously at The Company as well (also modded). It used to be the most popula...

Um... I think quite a bit of misunderstanding originated due to my bad wording of screentones/halftones which came from misunderstanding you. dead my bad.

Getting back to the core point, I don't think anyone applies filters for the purpose of "watering them down". But for th...

Screen tones are not textures. They're side effects caused by the printers. If you look at works by the author in original BEFORE the print, you'll notice that they often have gray gradients instead of dotted screen tones. If the comic was published digitally to begin wit...

I can also confirm on woxxy's numbers. But, probably because we are a newer group and a group that primarily focuses on webtoons, the numbers are more skewed towards online reader count (we do prints too!!). A series like Tower of God for example will get over 10k reads (...
