I once read a manga about a older female younger male relationship, and the boy is rushing and wants himself to grow up faster because he wants adequate physical strength to protect the female.
It's not Suna no Shiro.

Seconding Vampire Juujikai, Monster, Please Save my Earth, Kaguya hime, 20th Century Boys. I haven't read 7seeds yet but it's by Tamura Yumi so it should be very good.
Another one I recommend is also by her, Basara...

You can try Lip Smoke, the male has his cool moments, but he's more of a easy-going character. Hana no Kishi, all the characters are cool. There's also Li Ren Man, Mongol princess meeting a Chinese Duke, both of them are cool.
