That's because you're a heterosexual girl. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.
New Poll - Demographic Hate

Lol, hypocrite.

Yaoi is full of allegorical sexist tropes and misogynistic behavior acted out by genderless looking men. The whole seme and uke bit is an asexual reenactment of male sexual domination over women.

In addition, if you're female, the I guarantee your interest ...
New Poll - Anime OP/ED
(51 posts, 9363 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by philip72 in News
Agreed, absolutely inane, simply a question for the sake of a question.
It's the sort of thing one would come up with, if one were suddenly forced to come up with a poll question and only given 10 seconds to do so.

If the OP's a better song, people will prefer it; converse...
New Poll - Visiting Japan

But you can flip the real estate later for funds.

The "money is no object" bit is more important to me than the location.

There's a lot of high performance sports cars that were only released in Japan, I'd buy as many used as I could, and arrange their export after. You cou...
President Election: Obama VS Romney
(91 posts, 15203 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by philip72 in Chatter Box
Why do you Americans have to smother every forum in site with your creepy political sh*tstorms right now?

Because it was likely some callow Kos Kid that posted this crap I'll post some honest flamebait:
I'd vote Romney because I'm not a credulous fool; but then again I'm a ...
Bishies: love 'em or hate 'em
(127 posts, 20119 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by philip72 in Manga General
It seems to me there is a lot of confusion and crossed definitions on the meaning and usage of the word "Bishie".

Some people here are using the classic Japanese definition of asexual, effete, lipsticked and mascara, Takarazuka type characters.
While others here are using t...
a Character that Defies Gender Roles
(22 posts, 3659 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by philip72 in I'm Looking For...
Well if you want to get technical any LGBT person by definition is a pervert due to the nature of their sexuality vis-à-vis the biological function of sex.
It could also apply to certain heterosexual practices, such as cunnilingus, fellatio and heterosexual sodomy.

Howeve...
New Poll - Mainstream
(33 posts, 6122 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by philip72 in News
I don't usually read a manga thinking who else does.

Agreed.

Only the most pretentious kiddies, chock full of callow ideas about what constitutes "good" or "enjoyable", would pooh-pooh a story simply because it's popular.
The whole concept of Mainstream/Non-mainstream is th...
What song are you listening to RIGHT NOW?
(5082 posts, 486390 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by philip72 in Music
"Three little maids from school are we" by Gilbert and Sullivan.
The shrill trilling "ha-ha-ha-hi-hi-hi" of Yum-Yum, Peep-Bo and Pitti-Sing arouses me.
New Poll - Known Languages

I hope so as I can then add Scots to my list.

Does anyone else find the the way the first option is posed kind of douchey?
I'm a Canadian so it's no skin off my back, but if I was American, I'd say the person who created the poll was a bit of a dick.
Am I the only one who ships HildaxAoi?
(1 posts, 1432 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in Beelzebub
While I don't ship persay; as a heterosexual, red blooded male I prefer the thought of HildaxAoi far more than Hilda/Aoi x any of the guys.

Actually AoixRedTails, particularly Nene or Yuka, could be delicious, and HildaxYolda would be faptastic.

Comiket is really letting th...

And how much money did Japanzai make from Depositfiles and Batoto?
And if MangaFox has started paying scanlators, how is it different from Batoto?

The fact that Batoto pays scanlators, bothers me almost as much as MangaFox keeping the dough themselves.
The reason so many h...
MangaStream Drops VIZ Media Licensed Series
(170 posts, 32053 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
"Viz as far as I can see did a good job already, releasing it 3 weeks after Japan."

That's nowhere near good enough. This isn't the 80's where they had to snail mail transcripts.

There's no reason why Viz can't release simultaneously with Japan right now, aside from a predi...

The intent of your comment is as obvious as your grammar is impeccable.
Perhaps rephrase your remarks in English.
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 17628 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
But if what they promised to give you for free was defaced beyond recognition with curses aimed at some unrelated third party, should you be grateful? See A-team for an example.

Scanner - "Here, have some delicious free cake, but don't share it with that weasel Johnny"

Leec...
MangaStream Drops VIZ Media Licensed Series
(170 posts, 32053 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
Well VIZ certainly has a right to do this, and I never went to MangaStream once they went online reader only, but this may limit some new fan exposure to the series.

I never would have purchased One Piece or Claymore if I hadn't had free access to them first. Initially I t...
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 17628 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
PROzess you've been working so hard bringing so many great manga's to the anglophone worlds attention. No matter where I go, I see your involvement.

In many ways you should be a scanlation legend, hailed by everyone.

But you've created lots of unneeded collateral damage in...
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 17628 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
I may be misunderstanding what you're trying to say, but if you're saying scanlators should quit scanlating if what they're doing hurts the mangaka, then I certainly agree with you.
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 17628 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
Just to clarify, when I said watermarks were similar to SOPA/PIPA, I was referring to the response that they elicited in the online community, and their ineffectiveness in regards to the problem their addressing;
not that two stalled federal bills on piracy are the same t...
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 17628 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
Scanlations can be somewhat ethical, as long as they:
a) Only scanlate titles not currently available in english, and cease scanlation the moment a title becomes available in english.
b) Accept no monies whatsoever, from any source, for the scanlation itself (ie; Depositfile...
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 17628 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
The actual intent may be to deter online readers, but it still implies ownership.
Saying "We created this scanlation, therefore we can dictate where it can and cannot be hosted" really is insinuating proprietary rights on the behalf of the scanlator.

Now don't get me wrong...
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 17628 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
In reality those high posting demands are a form of extracting payment from leechers.
"If you keep my personal forum active, I will pay you with releases."
It's pure bartering, and it's highly unethical in regards to scanlation.
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 17628 views) Posted: over 12 years ago by philip72 in News
The thing that bothers me about watermarks isn't their obtrusiveness, but the fact that the scanlator is implying ownership of the translated work.
Credit pages are fine because they're simply informing a reader of the group's composition and views, but a watermark is a b...
Site Poll - Chat Box 123 - The Funnies
(29 posts, 4168 views) Posted: over 13 years ago by philip72 in Chatter Box
This is an impossible poll to vote on as there's no differentiation made between types.

If I'm reading a gag manga like Katteni Kaizo I want it chock full of humor. A moderate amount would make it tedious, and serious moments would feel misplaced.
However, if I'm reading a ...
