It's not even music the crap they have these days. There's not many song now days you'd consider it to be timeless classics that you'd never get sick of. The songs these days are hardly meaningful and the artists don't really have talent either.

My first BL manger was Sono Yubi Dake ga Shitteiru
From memory, I coincidently stumbled upon this manga and it unlocked the world of BL manga for me (although i was reading BL fanfiction before that) now 1000+ BL mangas later, it is IMO still one of the best BL mangas out...

I don't read shoujo, mainly find the heroines annoying and the storylines are very cliched.
yaoi on the other hand can be cliched (especially the rape plots) but mostly more mature and has more substance than shoujo. i just find two guys in a relationship more romantic. ...
