do manga artist ever create a doujin of their own works?

It happens pretty often with yaoi/BL mangaka but I see it less often in straight works and I don't know why that is. I know sometimes a series gets dropped by the publisher and the author continues it as a self published work, like Blood Alone but that's pretty uncommon....

Rice balls for me. The slightly salty, crisp exterior, and fishy fillings all come together into something delicious. Spicy tuna and tuna mayo are the best.
