New Poll - Offensive Speech
(47 posts, 1023 views) Posted: 2 months ago by Cleotis in News
Although I think the object of the poll is important, I have reservations about the choices.
I think both are true.
Not giving offense to others is a part of civil society (emphasis on the civil). No one is going to advance themselves or their agen...

This may not be the right place, but I've been looking for a while now with no success.

I know there's a Greasemonkey extension to view scan websites on Firefox, which I've been using ever since it came out. But I've been having trouble with the l...
Site Suggestion
(2 posts, 402 views) Posted: over 9 years ago by Cleotis in Suggestions & Bugs
Baka Manga is essential for keeping track of new manga and releases. I can't get along without it. I do, however, have a suggestion.

As I read more manga (and HD prices inflate) I find myself reading more on line. I've been using the "Wish List"...

I saw this on ANN yesterday, but I was too stunned to do anything but sit in front of the computer with tears in my eyes. He worked so hard, he left us so much great art, and he seemed to have so much fun doing it.

I can't help but think of that l...
Does Anybody Remeber?
(4 posts, 682 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by Cleotis in Chatter Box
Does anybody remember the title of a cartoon series (I think it ran on CN) from the early or mid 90's? The main character was a dog who ran a detective agency. His sidekick was a pig who wore a fedora. The dog, as I recall, was a low-life chara...

So far over 25 I'd need a telescope (and a good memory) to see it.

Most beautiful songs ever

Davorak (sorry about the spelling) "The Hymn to the Moon" from Rusalka. Breathtaking, even if you don't know a word of the language. If the song is beautiful, the meaning of the words is irrelevant.
How did you get you get into anime/manga?

I was in my late 40s and living in Britain. I came home for Xmas one year and stayed with a friend for part of that time. He'd broken his hip (he had polio when young) and during his long recovery had gotten into Sailor Moon.

He had collected so...
Philosophical & Psychological >> End of the World or Rebirth..
(5 posts, 1455 views) Posted: over 13 years ago by Cleotis in I'm Looking For...
You might also enjoy "She, the Ultimate Weapon" (English title since I can't remember or spell the Japanese). I think it would fit under your End of the World criteria. The philosophical/psychological aspects are sometimes undertones and sometim...

Perhaps Rumiko Takashi could be persuaded to take on Edward Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. If she ever finishes her current manga, that is. smile wink grin

Anime OST
(101 posts, 17002 views) Posted: over 13 years ago by Cleotis in Music
As far as complete OST's are concerned, my favs are Brain Powr'd 1 and 2, with 1 far in the lead. Maaya Sakamoto's rendition of "Field of Love" is so lovely words fail me.

I also really like the Akira OST and Blood the Last Vampire.

As for singles,...
