It's not a freakin basketball manga

This manga is like 90% drama 10% romance and seriously the author has the gall to hate the anime adaptation when he's manga is a dumpsterfire. Most of the early chapters is for the development of the Sora and Madoka pair then what did the author do? Madoka got an A**hole BF and eventually she ended up with Momoharu, seriously? Author just drew a lot of development between them and all happened when MC's mother died. And what they continued this drama for a while and at this time I'm sure the author is just milking this series for money, though I'm really surprised that it hasn't gotten axed yet. Also MC suffered a lot, being short, bullied a lot, his mother died, the clubroom fire then here comes the author with Madoka saying "You know what I love Momoharu since the beginning but I like to lead you on as you didn't suffer enough so I will give the one that you love to your bestfriend. And after that what even after the author made the Momoharu and Madoka pair, he's still putting Madoka and Sora in romantic situation I mean for what? If only author just paired Madoka with Sora or author didn't put the Madoka equation in this series then it will be good
like slamdunk

Very realistic, love every chapter

This is one of the best sports/slice of life manga I've read. A team of delinquents go on to make a change in their life with basketball.
Its a slow paced manga which helps to build each individual character which each have their own personalities. Its very realistic that they lose a lot of games and the author teaches you life don't go how you want and you build yourself through trial and error.

I've reached the latest English scans in 3 days. But because the Chinese scans are so much further ahead, I'm reading on that instead as I can understand some Chinese. I just can't wait for the English scans since I need to know how the characters will build up in the future!

Really slow

It's pretty interesting. However, because the pace is so slow, it can be hard to get into. If you skip chapters, you'll still understand the characters, but you'll miss out on important bonding moments.

I'm not a big fan of shonen but DAMN I would marry this manga. I've only read two volumes but its almost ten o'clock and I seriously need to go to bed and get up early tomorrow morning--that's how good it is. I have just one thing to say: hurray for short people! Sora makes me want to take up basketball even though I don't like it.

Deserves more attention

Ahiru no Sora is a great read, and it's a shame that it doesn't get as much attention as other sports series. Deep characters and realistic basketball holds this manga up; you'll get emotionally caught up with the characters much more so than with other series. Sit tight though, the series is long and incredibly slow-paced. The 'learning stage' phase spans many, many volumes (but it contributes a lot to character development so it's still awesome).

It makes me sad that no groups have taken this in as a main project.

Looking good at volume 30

I read the Korean raws up to volume 30 and I have to say, Ahiru no Sora is pretty good. It is somewhat similar to a lot of the basketball mangas out there but I do like the "truths" the manga tries to convey. It's not childish or completely obvious, and it makes you think and realize some important things. The plotline is pretty slow because at volume 30, they still haven't even entered the preliminary rounds for the interhigh competition. What's more frustrating is how often the teams seem to lose, but I guess that's what separates this manga from all the other sports mangas. The team doesn't keep winning game after game. The mangaka takes the time to let each player develop their skills and gain experience. I like how each character has a unique personality and each side character actually serves a purpose. They aren't just there so that the main team can have opponents to fight against. The art is around average. It's not the prettiest I've seen but it's better than a lot of other sports mangas.

It's a good manga if your not reading it because of the romance sub plot, but I spoiled it for myself and stopped reading when I found out

Nice sports manga

Probably one of the best basketball manga's out there. The only strange thing, is that the main isn't the center. Since he is short and the center is probably the only position where your height doesn't matter that much.
But that aside, I like how they talked about tactics, easy explain, with no unnecessary commentary. Way better than "Kuroko no Basuke", and it did made me laugh quite a bit. =]

Totally recommended manga

well that's a good manga, i like the way its' drawn and the characters ( exept the one that the hero like : ).
But the story don't seem to progress an inch. Ok that's mean their will be many more tome but that too much, i fell like right now we are at the same point that at the end of the volume 1, no enven less...
The autor should realy put some good surprise in his manga, baucause when you think it's progress ( in bascket or relationship ) the autor just blow up all your hope and you end up just more and more irritated.
Serriously, i will not stop reading this manga because it seem it will start become better in the 23 book and if it become better it could realy be a good manga, but i realy hope more that if that happen i wont be disapointed in the 24.

i vote 4 because serriously that's too much of blowing hope, well maybe it will get better after volume 30, should be patient

theres lots of bball and not much other bs that taints sports mangas. The action is realistic and the mangaka seems to know what he's writing about. Art is unique and exciting. I really like this manga and it is indeed very promising. You dont get to publish 20 volumes by sucking bigrazz.
