She's...relatable. I could feel the I'm-a-hater-because-I'm-insecure energy off of her without it being beat over my head. It's easy to have a knee-jerk "ugh" reaction to her. Then she gets her crush...and you kind of melt a little because you realize she wants to be soft. And the author did this in so few pages...I love the narrative of growing and the message at the end (things will probably be okay).

This was shockingly realistic.

Finally! I could relate so much to her. Manga and anime girls are all beautiful (with some rare but welcome exceptions) and it was amazing to see one who wasn't perfect, who was insecure, and slightly cynical. Would LOVE to read more about Hina-chan.

I agree that it's a refreshingly real look at first love and school crushes. In shoujo we're accustomed to reading about boys who're either princes or jerks masquerading as tsunderes who tease the girls who like them... but in both cases, the boys seem to know the girl lives... here it's very realistically depicted how young boys actually behave AND how young girls chase them inspite of themselves! And the story direction and resolution is just so cute and funny! I love this girl! I want to read more of her adventures! And maybe she should shave her upper lip while she's at some of these adventures ^^

I loved this short one-shot because it very true, it actually reminded me of the time I was a middle schooler (unlike most shoujo manga, which are pretty and romantic but not realistic at all). When you're an immature insecure girl and fall in love for that cute guy... you act like an idiot, want to know everything about him, his shoe size included, stalk him etc. Well, I was there XD And thanks to this manga, I laughed at the memory, lol. Kinda heart warming haha

This one-shot is very unique.
