So many gamer references and slang. (They even reference Tower of God, lol.) No bullshit guild angst drama or harem loli/breast-physics stuff like Sword Art Online or Log Horizon. Just straight up hilariousness with action and plot. Great even for non-gamers. (Though some jokes and references may pass you by.)

ALL characters are likeable or at least interesting, even his mom! MC has a really awesome and cool best friend. The best friend is almost comparable to Garrus Vakarian in terms of bro-level status. Yeah, I can't believe it either. (Even the best friend's granddad is cool.) I also like how everyone makes fun of MC for playing too many games and that his abilities are OP (which he, himself, acknowledges).

I have great expectations for this manhwa! Please don't let me down author!

The Gamer and DICE: The Cube that Changes Everything show how two different authors can take the same base concept, ie CRPG mechanics in the real world, and run with it. I like both Manhwa's and highly recommend them both.

But to compare them because they have the same hook as another commentator did is ludicrous. An apple and a tomato are both fruit but I would not say they were similar.

Usually to incorporate RPG into a work, the story goes like this : People trapped in Virtual Reality Game or drifted into different world

But this manhwa is different, it's the gaming ability that brought forth into reality, and the universe supported it! It's like costumizing yourself in reality, extremely fun

I personally relate very strongly with this story. It's only flaw is there is only 15 chapters! Top pick of 2013!

The premise reminds very strongly of the DICE: The Cube that Changes Everything - another webtoon that was started several month earlier then The Gamer.

The Gamer is most certainly the lighter one of the duo, though while losing the grittiness of the Dice the Gamer has picked up a lot more cliché and predictability.

Time will show if the Gamer will beat the Dice or the vice versa.

This webtoon is definitely one of my top 5 finds of the year 2013. It is also very close to my inner self, and somehow very precious because of that. If you like RPGs, this is a must-read. Heck, even if you hate RPGs, as a manhwa this is worth every minute you spend on it. The author is very skilled, cuz he doesn't bore you and keeps the story moving while not making it seem rushed or anything.

this has alot of potential with a very unique and original idea. based on the name i originality thought this was one of those stories where the mc was a gamer geek which he is but instead of magically transporting into the game or being stuck in one his "real" everyday life is a game. u know that running gag of how real life has the best graphics but shitty gameplay well this would be a case where the real life has just updated its gameplay and features. well story was as u can tell is very promising art is pretty good as well but what really got me hook with this story was the curiosity of how strong the mc would get like he has abilities coming out of his wazoo left and right just from the most trivial of things. make me wonder what other powers he gets n how he gets it. its a pretty good read.

But I always thought that if I had to build my character I'd learn as much skills as possible instead of focusing on a couple specific skills. The more skills the more fun you know? It looks like as of chapter 10 he might be gaining that ability and that gets me really excited

I quite like this webtoon. It's informative but not boring, there's action but also plot and the MC is funny. Read it if anything game related intrigues you.

The story seems to head towards a generic shounen action, but the MCs ability is a very original one. His ability is the same time super awesome and constant cause of comedy.
I don't expect anything really unique story-wise, but I'm really interested what the writer can get out of this ability later on.

This one might turn in to something big just because it caters to the hidden desire to become a game characters, that a lot of people have.
Curious how the author will play this good hand he has been dealt.
