can't stop reading

I should have waited until it was done. The chapters are pretty short, even shorter than weekly manga, and information is given very little at a time. I really want to know why she's there, what's up with that 'world', who's running it and why, etc etc.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Yuri suddenly finds herself in a room with a dead man and an axe-wielding killer straight out of a horror movie. There's no exit going down, so she has no choice but to run to the rooftop where she realizes she's not even in Tokyo anymore but somewhere that's full of skyscrapers. There's nobody else there except for her and the killer, though she manages to contact her brother who gives her some information about the 'world' they're in. Determined to reunite with her brother, Yuri crosses rope bridges that connect one skyscraper to another. But it's not only the height that she has to worry about.

Yuri is pretty much an average person, making it easy to sympathize with her. Fortunately she's still got her wits with her, and like in a video game she (mostly) picks up what she could and should. This story is kinda like an inverse of a zombie apocalypse-- it's more dangerous to be above ground, and there are very few enemies and she mostly faces them one by one but boy are they dangerous. Despite being set in broad daylight it doesn't take away the feeling of dread of what danger Yuri could possibly face.

The art is pretty nice, and I like how the killers' masks are that eerie smiley face. I rated it 9/10 only because the panty-shots and fanservice are kinda annoying. Of course it's very easy to give an excuse for it as she's wearing a school uniform skirt and she's running around and crossing rope bridges from one skyscraper rooftop to another, but it's like the mangaka is going out of his or her way to put in fanservice. Oh well.

When it's finished I hope it gets an anime series (with lesser fanservice shots).

Patience might be needed to enjoy in long run

At first I was bias towards the volume cover and thinking "meh". After seeing its updates here and there frequently, I was already curious. Then after realizing it was done by the author of Ajin, I thought "why the heck not?", boy it was worth it.

With experience and being used to slow pace along the repetitive sensation and the given genre, I gave my patience to see through the plot and "plot" (lol).

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Yuri's relation to others especially Sniper Mask and her brother were however my main focus. There's a lot of subtle hints so it was entertaining trying to piece things up.

Despite some unnecessary fanservice (and censors [from scanlators?] depending how you've read it, it's more hilarious lol) it wasn't that bad. Not to mention using "masks" as a theme of abilities and powers is pretty catchy, and interesting for me.

It's a fun series more than I've expected in a nutshell.

Not worth it

Such a disappointment. No matter how interesting it might seem at first, it eventually just devolves into dbz fight scenes and sci-fi nonsense. All the mystery and horror of the first few volumes gets thrown out the window and you realize there is no story here. The second half of this manga is literally just random battles with no reason behind anything.

A pretty decent core story, but despite having 258 chapters, there's not any real conclusion to this manga. It wasn't axed or anything; it just leaves you hanging without any answers about what is actually going on, making it more than a little unsatisfying.

Drops the Ball in the Second Half

This entry to the survival game genre starts out well with page-turning twists and lots of fanservice for those who are into it, but grows more convoluted and nonsensical as it goes on. The plot and characters were never too deep, and the art was always too focused on leering to direct attention to any significant meaning, but the introduction of ever greater power in the later stages robs it of the tense, knife's edge survival horror that made the first volumes compelling. Best to read the first eight volumes and then skip the rest.

Addicting

This manga was really good-the chapters were so short though, I didn't realize I had read through 50+ chapters. I like the plot development, and how Yuri adapts so quickly to it.

Or rather, too quickly. I have a sneaking suspicion that she has the amazing hidden abilities of a killer-somewhat like Nagisa from Assassination Classroom, but she's more...determined. Though, Yuri does have a certain sense that screams 'killer' in her.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I like how, in the end, Yuri and her friend (forgot the name already, lol) made a team-they're already pretty close, too. Her brother, on the other hand, is kinda...well, he's something like Yuri in terms of determination and killing instincts, but he's also really smart.

The masks, too, were amusing. The smiling ones with cracks are to be killed, and even within the smiling ones, there are different types, including blood thirsty types and just plain mad types. Then the neutrals (the shy, geek type was a little too much, wasn't it = =) and the angry masks. The angry ones are most probably my favourite type XD

The girl with Sniper was suspicious, though. Her being God without her knowing, her behaviour when giving Sniper her phone...I hope Sniper finds out why she's God and what it means, soon. What's weird is that I expect her to lash out and kill Sniper suddenly cuz his mask's cracked. The tension's going to be pretty high, soon! <3

The manga is a really good read, though. A little blood (okay some people may find this an understatement, though the gore isn't family-friendly), random titbits of knowledge...amazing potential, I hope they update soon! biggrin

In recent chapters, the plot become really nonsense, the author keep introducing characters without any depth, and the story is overwritten, the same villain with the same motive keep appears, at the time leads suddently given random new superpowers to fight them, the author just run out of ideal so he just throwing everything at it to keep the series going. I should have know before hand that these type of battle royal manga away go no where, with an exception of gantz, this people kill each other and then become stronger is just too old fashion, mangaka need to step up their game

The pacing is good at first, but starts to become repetitive with each chapter. The plot is overly contrived. Character development is rushed and bizarre.

Making the MC's so overpowered and capable right from the start was a bad idea. You don't really feel as invested in their survival.

It was so good then everything just sucks.
The last 2 arcs was pure trash and don't talk about the ending.
That shit made no sense, si many questions are left with that weird closure.

But I will keep sniper mask and Rika as my consolation...

The fanservice is f***ing annoying

The plot is interesting, the characters are ok, the action is nice, the horror aspect is well balanced. Overall I'm invested in the story. And yet, I'm probably gonna drop this because the fanservice is. So. F***ing. Annoying. It completely ruins the immersion and it's in bad f***ing taste.
