I've read both stories. This is a comment only on "To the Earth born you".
I like to think of fiction as a view into another universe. That means that every story is real. I'm sad when a story ends and I want to see the lives of its characters more. When I connect strongly with a character/characters, loosing them (the story finishing thus the window into their universe being over for me in this reality) makes me feel like I am suffocating. I assume that most here know this feeling.. In this story, what little of the characters that I did get to see is.. Heavy. Not only is her story over for me, but it's over for her and him as well. Her story has ended both in this universe and her universe.
He remains. It's hard to accept that everything doesn't simply end when what was perfect and made your life is irreversably gone. I love this.. I feel like suffocating, contemplating her being gone and him having to remain with the memory of her for himself alone, until the end of his days, when the last traces of their personal tragedy will disapear from reality..
