🔗: Bookwalker, Coolmic, June Manga, Renta!

Souji's life has been a series of dull events, with his parents endlessly quarreling, until he comes across Mika, a carefree student who lives each day as it comes.

They start a relationship which banishes heavy words like "love" or "devotion". They see each other occasionally, without making any promises and such.

But can an ordinary relationship make Souji say something like "I only got this far because you were with me?" As Mika says "Who knows..."

the purest form of love

i wasn't looking for subdued angst today but this was nicely executed. each of the character's loneliness and solace in each other became distilled into a purity of form not seen in many relationships. it was refreshing in that it was so rare but also so miniscule.

with characters who have no reference for what a "good" romantic relationship should be, they seek each other out and slowly discover what love is on their own and on their own terms. love isn't "happiness", in fact both characters spend the majority of the manga quietly suffering. love is a wish, a wish that the other find happiness and a wish that they will continue to change you for the better. i'm both sad and glad that the manga portrayed kissing as a purely sexual thing, it really made me think about their relationship without that aspect while i was really longing for a passionate kiss for a long time lol.

i'd love a sequel to this in which the characters slowly become comfortable with the notions of "love" that they just discovered and see them become more affectionate with each other. they really deserve it!! i also really want to see some resolution to miki's family situation, if only to see miki smile and then souji's reaction to that smile. ahhh just thinking about it makes me want to cry!!

WHEN MIKA SAID "It's such a huge word, I don't know how to use it properly" (he was talking about saying I Love You to Shouji) I THOUGHT HE DIDN'T SAY IT BC HE'S NOT SURE OF HIS FEELINGS!!! BUT DAAAAAAAAAMN INSTEAD HE SAID "That's why I'll just have to show you each day." WELL PLAYED BRUH. WELL. PLAYED.

Toned Down

I think the story is nice and I also liked the ending. It is a proper ending in my opinion but the happiness is toned down, it did make me smile though. It isn't bluntly said and shown but it is expressed through the characters action and expression which is just as nice. Even though it's the end it still feels like it's a normal day, it doesn't end at an epic marriage ceremony or anything. Just real simple and down to earth which makes it more realistic in a way and shows that it doesn't have to end at the apex of happiness, it can end at the start of the happiness to follow. And it doesn't have to be shown by kissing or sex, it can just be the littlest actions like leaning against your loved ones and sharing a knowing smile.

One of my favorites

Like with most BL stories, the story is far from original, but I enjoyed how the story was executed as well as the character interactions. Seeing the story from each character's pov is a bonus. The art is alright to the eyes.

I can see how some people would be disappointed with the ending (yea, don't read this just for kisses and sex). The ending isn't conclusive and the characters hardly change, but that's how real life is: a slice of life with no ending until you die. Plus, people don't change easily, and I think that is one of the small aspects I found refreshing from this manga (especially after reading so many fairytale-like bl stories). I do, however, disagree that there was no progress between the main two. It's just subtle.

very dissapointing

The story is nice, but a bit cliché with "who we really are to each other?" main motive, you know "we are not friends but we are not lovers " stuff. I've seen it many times but it's not the case. The art is nice, also the characters. What I don't like about this yaoi is the fact that it's messy. Their thoughts are messy, there's no conclusion and the whole story ends up on nothing. NOTHING. It's not a rushed ending, there's no ending at all, it's pissing me off.

Souji were left with a mountain of unresolved problems, nagging doubts, uncertainty... it was cruel to left him like that. Also Mika were left with uncertainity, questions, he didn't managed to resolve his family problems or problems with Souji. He stayed as reckless as he was at the beginning. I didn't noticed any progress of this character.

Even extra chapter feels like it's not extra. Messy. It could be a good story but without decent ending and without even one proper kiss (not to mention there's no sex) or one serious declaration about their future (it mustn't be "love"), I'm really disappointed, like the whole story was about nothing. Ugh what a pity...

This manga's nothing too deep or profound but still enjoyable nonetheless. I quite like the characters myself, and the fact that they're so unconditionally in love with each other is just really sweet, and surprisingly not that corny or unrealistic. Although I do think the excuse for the 'dramatic' climax wasn't exactly the best plot device, I can't say that I didn't feel anything while reading the manga, and the storytelling is actually very nice - made me empathise with the characters a lot. The art is certainly not bad as well; it's not flowery and very down to earth, which is probably the most suitable for the story.
