Ppl who said they don't get why hayato like souma or it's only out of guilt?!! Hello ?! Are we read the same manga ?!
It was clear why he like souma in the end and it's not bcz of guilt, he is too selfish for that.
Anyway it was a good read, kinda too dramatic for my taste but a nice read.
I just wished more time for Noboru aka my fav character.

Kinda depressing and not very romantic…

I read this a long time ago, but I remember I wasn’t really convinced about their feelings… during the whole relationship, it felt like Hayato(?) was just going along with Souma because he had the yips or something… Like he couldn’t say NO out of the fear that this guy might have a mental breakdown
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
like his friend did in the past…

A surprisingly complete tale

After reading another meh work from this author, I expected this to be a mess, but I'm glad it was rather enjoyable. Normally tales like this easily dip into cheap melodrama, so I'm glad all the drama present seemed believable and relevant to the development of the characters. Of course, criticisms include the inclusion of dub con scenes (why do authors continue to use this as titillation...) that have no relevance to plot or character development. I usually get annoyed with insecure characters, but I'm glad the plot and character development explained why Souma is so insecure. Of course he would be, after being betrayed like that. Along the same lines, I'm very happy that despite his trauma, Hayato overcomes insecurity and ends up being the firm and confident rock to keep hope for the relationship going. When Souma wavers, Hayato keeps looking forward unflinchingly, which both scares and comforts Souma.

To me this story didn't seem dragged out too long or cut too short. It was paced pretty well. I agree that I would have liked to see Noboru's story, but I'm also fine with it how it is.

After everything, they did a freaking GREAT Epilogue!
The mangaka did great job to make everything clear, with all the conflict being faced and talk, without putting unnecessary drama, and all the feelings revealed. I'm Love how it written Hayato's feelings and actions; from hiding to being straight forward and didn't give up. I'm so Happy and Relieved I almost cry!!!
And like i said, after everything, i'm glad it has Absolutely Great Epilogue! Of their future. So Happy and Satisfying!!!

The characters in this, especially the protagonists, had a lot of flaws, but that's why it made them more realistic and relatable. I think it was indeed wrong that Hayato befriended Souma for his own satisfaction over what happened to him in the past, but that was also a very human thing to do no? No matter his intentions, he did bring happiness to Souma and he regretted his own selfish actions, so I think Hayato is pretty admirable, since it's very hard for a person to actually come clean with what they are most afraid of and to right his wrongs. And because of that I guess it can appear as if Hayato only cared and liked Souma later on because of guilt, but in my opinion, romantic feelings CAN develop from all kinds of ways, and that doesn't make it less real or less valid. Tbh I still think Hayato was very kind in the end.
But the only thing I am dissatisfied with is:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I wish there was more about Noboru and Haruki :( Noboru deserves happiness too, I really wanted to see more of them, since that Haruki guy only appeared at the last chapter

And well, the sex scenes were really hot, so there's that too fjiqofijfa Anyway, this was pretty enjoyable and I really liked it.

Mixed feelings

Maybe I expected too much. The story is pretty interesting and thought-provoking, their relationship is warm, yet I’m still unsatisfied at many points...
*SPOILER ALERT*
First of all, I’m not convinced by Hayato’s feelings. I understand that he felt guilty at first and stayed close to Souma, but I couldn’t see why he developed feelings for Souma. Since his mind was filled with guilt, he treated Souma gently to make up for what he did (to another person) and he was straight to begin with, hence I doubt it if he even truly loved Souma. Another unpersuasive thing is the fact that Hayato didn’t have feelings for the other guy who confessed to him, even when they were so close to the point of saying ‘I don’t want you to get a girlfriend ‘cause I wanna spend more time with you’, but then he fell so easily for Souma, despite the overwhelming guilt in his very own mind!?
Souma is so pitiful and he deserved better than that, and of course he avoided Hayato after knowing the trauma thing, yet why did he even have a sex friend then (I believe that uni student is?) when he had been alone before all this, is that even necessary? (I did read the last chapter).

This manga is very intriguing! There are so many ongoing yaoi series that keep getting spewed into society that are so generic and boring. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT ONE OF THOSE. Both of the characters are fairly realistic and are put into situations that are so real. Souma is a closeted homosexual and is terrified to be found out by his classmates, which is totally understandable because the people around him don't seem so open minded. Plus he's had bad experiences growing up. He's developed major anxiety and has problems with making friends and honestly, it's really sad. Hayato soon befriends him and is drawn to souma's loneliness.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
In the first chapter where souma suddenly jumps on hayato and starts to forcefully kiss him was like dude?? Wut you doing mate?? I get such a weird feeling about souma and the whole atmosphere was kinda creepy to me. Hayato didn't know how to reject him nicely and was totally taken aback by the whole ordeal. It's uncomfortable in a way because you can tell that hayato doesn't want to hurt souma's feelings and doesn't want souma to think he's disgusted with his sexuality. He's been through this before and doesn't want to make the same mistake. Most of the things they do together (especially anything sexual) hayato just goes along with the flow because he feels guilty about bullying another classmate h̶i̶s̶ ̶b̶e̶s̶t̶f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶ in the past who was also gay and ended up attempting suicide. Fucking dark right? I can see some spark of romance stirring up inside him, but yeah. The guilt is the main drive. When hayato reunites with noboru unexpectedly, it's painfully awkward for both of them and i can sense something dark happening.
I get such an eerie and sad vibe reading this. There are some nice moments but generally it's depressing. The art is really pretty and i can't wait to read more! Each chapter gets more suspenseful and the story gets more thrilling. In the end, i hope to see both of these characters happy.

I hate it that I'm so into this story and it's not completed!!! I love it. Lol. The characters and storyline are very real and I love where it headed so far. I hope the ending won't disappoint. ^^ Oh and I love it how Souma is such an insecure adorable seme, you don't see those very often. Lmao.

This is the first time that i'm reading something from this author, and it's pretty good, not the typical plot, thank God! haha. It contains a little bit of drama, but just a little to make it more interesting. If you like yaoi drama story with an unpredictable ending, here is the one.
