It’s pretty good for webnovel, it’s not as bad as one might expect and not as good as one might hope.
If can overlook it’s flaws for the pure enjoyment factor and you do enjoy reading it that it’s pretty good.
If you’re not that into it than the flaws are REALLY going to bother you.
Honestly for webnovel you could do worse. And it actually feels less repetetive than some other, more fleshed out webnovels. It’s not going to wow you though, that’s for sure.

To sum it up this is a wet dream for the stereotypical chunni hikikomori otaku who lives in the mom's basement, no offense meant.
Its just bad, really bad, unless this is the kinda story thats up your alley.
Protagonist is basically a Mary Sue. His character lacks depth, one-dimensional. Bland and dull. Disgustingly poor character design.
Even his companions have a more colorful character than him despite not being in the limelight often. Thats not to say the secondary characters are fleshed out, they're still quite bad, maybe because theres too many of them. Moreover character development was given the superficial treatment which is disappointing.
World building is horrible too. Unoriginal and half baked. No effort was put into to create a fully developed living breathing world.
Storyline is haphazard while the plot so far is mediocre or aimless rather. Seems like its going with the go with the flow which is not how you create a story for readers. Overall shallow plot and does not engage the reader. Fanfics are notorious for being bad and solely to feed ones delusional self indulgence, this novel brings it to another level.
I'm open to varying themes in books, no matter if its cliche or morally sensitive and that goes for character alignments but over here, author is pushing character development and plot to specific directions just for the sake of having it like that. Theres not core agenda, motivation, driving force behind it all. Its frustrating to read.
In summary, absolutely no substance, a mile wide and barely ankle deep. Not something meant for the intellectual. The manga adaptation is even worse so don't bother.

The novel began without the typical cringy dialogue that I often see from Japan. That changed after a few chapters, though it's not as bad as I usually see. The biggest flaw with this novel is the author repeatedly skips over fights altogether, merely telling the reader the outcome, then proceeds to go on a longwinded explanation every time. The issue here is that the author is avoiding any sense of conflict. It makes for a very dull read. This is made much worse due to the MC having a cheat skill, which basically allows the author to make an endless amount of plot armor or whatever is needed to move the story forward in the direction the author wants simply because the MC ate something. Lazy. I feel like anyone who has actually read this light novel and gave it a high rating do not know what good writing actually is, because this novel is clearly written by a novice writer with very little ability for storytelling.

As most point out it starts out fairly good story wise and the concept is there (the concept being the only thing keeping readers interested). Unfortunately later on the author spends pages and pages on food, alcohol, and hot springs rather than the story itself.
The author could talk about the information the main character gathers from his hundreds (thousands?) of clones(spies) around the world, or his discussions with his subordinates and how the business is going, but doesn't. He regularly says "Something happened, but I won't go into detail."
The moral compass of the main character is also extremely skewed. He'll feel upset at things at certain points, then completely heartless the rest of the time, making those times he does anything nice, very out of character and jarring to the reader.
At this point it simply looks like the author is just writing to put "words on the page." Seeing that there is a manga and mobile game, I don't doubt they're just using it all as a tool to make more money.

i cant say its outstanding cause there are a lot of parts that are weak the characters specifically its more about the MC not much development for the other characters
to give you an idea the story is like your character in RPG theres levels and stuff items and jobs kinda like ragnarok you achive a certain level you graduate to a job depending on what you trained the story flow is like a journal and its very detailed like what you do in day 1 the creatures youve encountered experieces but since if its just like that its going to be a boring read thats why the author added him being the leader of a community/ trainer of his minions and also provides their equipment although there are conversations i cant say those are char development like the character kichi hes the dumb character a muscle-brain right hand of the MC the vanguard for the attack thats all its very simple in a way that every char is like that though its still a good read
i think this is what everyone expected from SAO instead of it being a romance shit LOL

The Story of A Bandit Leader

That's it. That is what the story is all about. It's about how the MC rapes, plunders, and eats his way to the top. It's starts decently though (I've been reading up to volume 3 before I gave up).
So yeah, basically a story about a bandit leader. If you the kind of people who enjoy reading about strong people oppressing weak people and a lot of raping and sex, then yes this story is for you.
I'll make a thread on the forum, if you think I'm wrong then prove me wrong.
P.S. If you want to read further just google "re: monster wiki", they should have the story up to day. 400 or something.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The story starts as a typical reincarnation story. But not so typical is that he is reincarnated as a goblin. So the early story is how he train himself and his friends, how he uses his superior intelligence to fight superior enemies, and discover new skills. And then he become the leader of his people, and start building an army of mercenary. Now I don't have any problem with that, but I do have problem is rooting for a bad guy. Scratch that, EVIL guy. He would eat anything weaker than him (including humans of course) would imprison any female enemie (he eats all the male of course) and start drugging them before raping them. And minds you, he doesn't just attack his enemy, even if the opponent is not hostile, he would still attack them, because he want to eat them, or rape them.

its not really well written and the characters are 1 dimensional. i started reading because i though the gaining skills by eating was kinda interesting but the story got repetitive and boring fairly quickly and harem thing just made me roll my eyes. its the xain xia lay out (super badass op character that all the women fall for) rather than the more typical j light novels (loser guy suddenly becomes irresistible to women for reasons rarely explained).
if your a teenage boy you will probably like it. otherwise, i recommend you find something with better writing and skip this one.

I was enjoying this series a lot up until things just got way too... ridiculously author-flattering for the MC. For example,
I could handle the "eat anything to get near unlimited power and abilities" thing as a rare trait and actually enjoy it.
I could handle him being less than a year old and becoming one of the most powerful beings on the planet single I wouldn't want to wait thousands of chapters for him to grow more naturally.
What I can't handle is the author turning this into such a blatantly wishful-thinking escapism "my character is a GOD among men, but is also extremely smart, funny, kind, cruel, always right, never wrong, likable, knows all the royalty, insert more awesome things here" story.
It's turned into a bad fan-fiction of the reincarnation/escapism genre.

later on in the series after he evolves the author decides he needs to become so physically powerful the simple act or moving his causing typhoons strong enough to crack a stone wall.

I'd say this one is really good. It takes on a new way of narrating(which might not please everyone) that gives insight into the story as if you're actually reading the MC, Rou's diary. Due to that, it's quite repetetive at times, but that makes more sence than that something new and unique would happen each and every day! I mean, most novel include long time skips, because of that limit, but since this novel is meant to resemble a diary, there'll always be an entry, even if it's sometimes really short, or really ordinary.
In that aspect, you could almost say that it reads like a Slice of Life with a bit of killing and strengthening every now and then, and the occasional eradication of a powerful foe or at times even an army.
One of it's weaknessess, except for the repetetiveness of it's format, is that some if not all of the non-monster characters, that should have a normal tempo of existence, are drawn into Rou's tempo, which contains the things other works contain in a few years in a couple of months!
Secondly, Rou's own tempo. He's a human reborn, with a (more or less) human mind! It's quite strange that he acts as if his tempo is completely normal. I mean, sure, he was probably one of the most elite humans of his time when it came to exactly tempo, but there should still be some type of 'lag', atleast the first week or two.
Thirdly, the language. The translation is done by normal people that happen to know the original language, not authors, so if you're someone that love reading stories more for the linguistic skill of the author rather than the story, this novel is not for you!
Despite these weaknesses, I'll give it a solid 8, since I'm a person that doesn't give a shit about anything but the actual story, and for the extremely interesting universe this work shows me. Still, the manga would beat this novel by far, if it wasn't for the fact that a few of the characters have been turned into some kind of comic-relief dudes, and that the release speed of the scanlated versions are bellow one chapter per month..
