I had no idea it's supposed to be related to a game, so i don't feel cheated by the manga having nothing to do with it. Hovewer, the manga itself is rather entertaining and the main character is cute. What's not to like?

It's a nice adventure story but lacks the tone of horror.

This honestly feels like a treasure hunting story then a proper horror one.

This story is about going to an abandoned school and undoing a barrier there made by a necromancer. It's a whodunnit.

It doesn't help that having a large cast of characters means there is no proper atmosphere to convey a brooding sense of loneliness or oppression from the setting. Also by having a large cast there is little development that occurs for the more suspicious characters leaving it obvious who is being possessed or is the necromancer.

Heck, there are some comedic moments (Made by the play boy or the professor) and dumb choices (Made by the girl with the charm and the best friend) that doesn't fit the tone either.

While the story is enjoyable, like another review pointed out, this is Fatal Frame in name only.

Ah. Just me maybe.
Anyway^^ I play Fatal Frame II on PS2, and watch my brother play Fatal Frame I and III. I love these three, and gosh... their plot is so asdfghjkfghj well write ^ p ^)/ super well write (at least for II and III).

Now, for this manga version that based from the game... I don't think this is bad. But somehow not really horrifying for me. It's like a detective series with a horror-story as additional seasoning. I'm expecting something like in game.... but this manga walks on a different path.
Anyway, I don't hate it, but I don't relly like it either.
I like the art anyway^^

[Complete read 10 August]
After so long faithfully reading this, I must say that ending feels somewhat rush. I meant-- I DO like it. Since I have my own pairing and it left subtly *cough* but let's not talk about that. If we talk about the plot, eeerrmm--- yes. No. Em, it's just happen with help of the all main protagonist explanation, I kind of get it (yet, doesn't care about it).
At least, I'm suspect the right person bwahaha ^^.

Fatal Frame in name only

What has this manga to do with Fatal Frame? The setting and characters don´t feel true to the first 3 games
(the japan only No. 4 is lame) and no direct connections can be made. The whole things feels like a quick money grab to coincide with the new game and film. The art is perfectly fine but has no mood going on and the characters look way to "pretty" to be taken seriously in a horror setting.
Overall another forgettable suspense manga (by an author that i disrespect) that took the name and elements only of an established work to create awareness of a new the product. My opinion on the second Resident Evil manga is identical. At least it´s not borderline hentai like most of Corpse Party´s horrible adaptations. Read Dorohedoro (9/10), Suicide Island (9,5/10) and Berserk (10/10) if you want proper seinen horror. Quality game adaptations are the short Biohazard Umbrella Chronicles (8/10) and the true to the source Breath of Fire IV - The Endless (8,5/10).
