It's a hidden gem. Great horror, interesting concept and characters, and tense moments. It definitely deserves its shounen tag though. You never really feel that the main character is in danger, and there's sudden power ups and one shotable mob characters a plenty. But it's got plenty going for it plotwise that makes up for the cliches.

I hate it when things end with non-endings. I read this one on Kindle Unlimited, and assumed when they're saying "final volume!" and all that junk that it was, you know, the final flipping volume. It's not. There's another whole manga after this, and this isn't really an ending at all. BOOOOOOO.

Gore, Action, and A Little Violent Romance

Since this manga doesn't really give a description of what it's about, I'm going to give a quick plot summary. I'll put it in spoiler tags just in case, but this is basically the set up in the first chapter.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The main character, Kamishiro, is in love with his childhood friend. He becomes infected with a disease which causes a person to have the uncontrollable urge to kill the one they love. The rest of the manga follows Kamishiro's journey, which I won't say any more about because that would definitely count as real spoilers.

It's got an interesting premise and sets up lots of mysteries within the first few chapters that keep you guessing. I wouldn't really categorize it as a typical shounen, mostly because it doesn't really feel like the stereotypical shounen. It doesn't have the same predetermined structure where the character trains to beat a boss type character and then faces another boss type character and this continues on for many, many chapters. (Just as a side note, I love shounen manga, so I wouldn't mind if that was the case, but that really isn't the structure of this manga) I think this feeling stems from the fact that it doesn't really have the same separating arc structure of a shounen; all the plot things bleed together.

I've enjoyed it so far, and the plot moves pretty steadily so I haven't gotten bored reading. The characters are interesting, but the story focuses much more on Kamishiro and larger plot points and action scenes rather than exploring side characters. I think it could use more side character development and more hints about the larger mysteries, but it's been a pretty good read so far.

Just a typical action shounen

This is just a typical action shounen where the main character tries to "save" the girl he loves who thinks they can't be together and makes some other girls fall for him along the way. That emotionless changed so fast just because one scene where she supposed to be emotionless for years (lol). Not mention her interaction with the main character weren't that much or meaningful. It also tries to be gorefest but fails as it only provide blood without organ.

Dropped at chapter 20. I already can predict how it will go.
