Like the subject said. this manga is like tsukuyomi. So unrealistic. Purely made to satisfied your imagination. But eh, I'm not a critic so i won't say much.

Note: this manga is not that good, but it's still readable. Just read it if you want, your own choice after all.

fluffy sugar daddy fantasy

As iterated many times in the comments, the manga is pretty unrealistic. the plot, characters and development is really flat. Right from the beginning, Fukami falls head over heels for Risa and he remains this way for the rest of the manga. to fully enjoy this manga, you need to temporarily suspend belief and remember that these characters live in a perfect utopian society and literally have not a single ill-intention bone in them.

in a nutshell, this is the perfect fluffy sugar daddy fantasy. Fukami literally lives and breathes for Risa. He spoils and pampers her like crazy and would 100% kiss the ground she walks on if she asks. the drama is also super tame and usually solves itself in the end because Fukami is two steps ahead of the plot and everyone in it. in fact, the drama somehow always ends being sugary and diabetic. the smut is also very tame (they have a lot of sex) but somehow it's executed in a way that it's not distasteful? it can get shamelessly sweet and a little cheesy.

that being said, I give it an 8/10 because the art is beautiful and it's a light and enjoyable read. the series isn't plagued by drama that drags on for ages and sometimes, I wish I could be Risa and have myself a Fukami. I think Coffee & Vanilla does exactly what it intended to do from the beginning: create a fantasy of a younger woman being taken care of, spoiled, loved and pampered by a rich, and powerful older man. it's not meant to be a serious/realistic portrayal of relationships and society. it's almost like a 50 shades of grey but without all the social/physical manipulation, baggage and psychological torture. instead, you have a cup of straightforward, wholesome sweetness. i would recommend this manga for shoujo/josei lovers looking for an easy and stress-free read. like someone else said, you can easily substitute yourself as Risa since she lacks any notable characteristics other than being demure, innocent and girly.

There's nothing that makes my heart fluttering when I read it. Sure, it has some conflicts in it, but it does nothing at all. There's no depth, it's all typical. Maybe, I don't really like male lead character. He seems so fishy if I truly met him in the real world. Full of sweet words, sweet gesture, too perfect for being a gentleman etc. I might shy away from this type of guy.
I don't think there will be any change, storyline-wise. I might continue read this if it's completely scanlated. It's kinda ruin the mood if I could only read a chapter by a chapter.

It's okay, the couple is cute and the art's nice but it isn't really anything new or different. I don't really care about it not being realistic it's just something very predictable and average. It's a pretty cute read though just don't take it too seriously.

Wish to continue reading

This manga is unrealistic, but it's because of this attribute that it's really great to read! Sometimes you want to be swept away to a fantasy land where things happen coincidentally in your favor. Although the main protagonist lacks characteristics, you can easily substitute yourself in and pretend you're going with the flow. Wish the translations came out faster, or that I knew Japanese to continue reading haha

This is my first time reviewing a manga on mangaupdates.

I admit haven't read such a fast moving manga in the way how their relationship develops, its on a whole other level in comparison to the slow build up of Skip Beat (another shoujo romance manga), this manga has awesome doses of smut, jealousy and everlasting love, I love all the fuwa-fuwa (Japanese for fluffy) bits in it, its quite an enjoyable manga, flows and reads well. Art is just beautiful ^.^

Thank you to the scanalation group for the translations.

The male lead was perfect (he would've been too perf if he hadn't laid a hand on Risa lol) and the female lead was pretty perfect too lol would've given this a 10 if smut wasn't around lol
