From Yaoi Sekai:

Seinen is quite popular and yet he has nothing he could get himself into and had no experience of falling in love. This made Seinen annoyed with himself. So adorable!

I've started chapter 1 with low expectations, It was supposed to be a short sweet story for me to enjoy yet I unexpectedly liked the characters so much! Both Seinen and Noiri's character are typical and bland at first but at the last chapters, I came to a realization that I really like them! Although the story was quite bland and even though I adore Music themed BL, this wasn't really hitting the "Good" meter for me as I felt the story was rushed.

Until that second to last chapter. During those 2 last chapters, there were so much feelings and angst and all of that packed into it I seriously didn't see it coming. The characters grew from me being nonchalant to actually rooting for them, I think it's because love was finally blooming between them haha! It was very adorable seeing those two falling in love, and Noiri's character arc was surprisingly resolved in a semi-good way! I really like that ending where Noiri embraces the piano and they're both just so cute. I also like Seinen's insecurities towards his own feelings for Noiri, and how he seems to prioritize Noiri over him, and yes it's kind of heart-breaking seeing him like that but I'm glad it got resolved nicely.

Overall, this was a decent story with a decent plot and adorable characters. 8/10!

The story, though not exactly original, is more or less fine for me. The characters are pretty cute themselves, which I think is the mangaka's biggest success - making her characters likeable despite what she still lacks in skills when it comes to presenting a story in manga form. Her art is rather static and not very dynamic so it could look flat at times, and her execution of the plot isn't most compelling or substantial either, which reduces the impact of some of its events surrounding heavier subject matters. It's still a novel attempt overall though and I'll keep my optimism for her future works.

Nothing Plain About This

While II Ichino’s world building and characterization might seem bland, it’s not. If you think it is, then I would strongly urge you to a) look at the actual content, that is dialogues, character growth, pacing, etc, and b) to question what exactly a heart racing love is supposed to look like for you?
On a), it’s extremely welcoming to see the central place that consent has in this work. How both the character take time out to sort, and talk through, their feelings with each other, and wait for the other instead of imposing their ideals onto them from the get go. The only thing that has recently started to bug me, now that I really started paying attention to detail, is the childhood first love plot that is spun so often. Why and how? This seems to be quite a persistent feature is Japanese high school love stories, as far as I have read.
On b), a heart throbbing, out-of-control, romance can simply be a hug. It does not have to be wild-passionate (more often than not hurtful, physically and mentally, but glorified) love-making or getting into a fight.
Lastly, while there was a general bit of lacking in developing an atmosphere within the manga, an excellent example is Furuya Nagisa’s work, I hope that as II Ichino makes more work they are able to further polish their skills.
