Maybe I'm too old to be reading shoujo manga, I mean, I mostly read yaoi and josei. But really, it felt so shallow, I had to skim through the last few chapters. It was fun, just not enough to pull me in. There are few shoujo manga I can read now-a-days where I don't come to the point where I think some character keeps doing the most retarded things. I'm sorry for the rant, this manga is pretty okay if you like your typical shoujo though, so if you do, I recommend you read it.
First of all, all the characters are pretty likable, so I was kinda anxious that I'd find myself torn between wanting otome to end up with tokio rather than touyou. But, while both were enjoyable, there was never any doubt otome would end up with the guy that she did.
Otome and touyou's relationship dynamic, while funny, was also kinda unhealthy(?) at first. Maybe it was just touyou's stuck-up personality, but I found tokio's relationship with touyou to be more healthy..only for a split-second. I was led away from that idea by how light-hearted everything was.
The ending with the kiss was super cute, especially how happy otome and touyou looked while just hugging! I was squealing and thought, "they are good together too". Really nice. Overall, a pleasant read.

How can people love this crap? He's one of the biggest narcissistic douche I've ever come across in the manga world! And the girl is one of the shallowest dumbasses ever! This manga was so shallow, not funny and after chapter one, I skimmed all the other ones till the end just to see if I could find any value in it whatsoever but nope, it sucks. 7.9?! That's ridiculous.
I loved the story and its lighthearted way of smashing the stereo type of an All perfect boyfriend.

It's so hard to find shoujo manga with a gangster as the lead male. And when you do it's usually with an eccentric silly puritan as the lead girl. I love Otome's more realistic personality and the less-than-perfect male lead. Although it's easy to predict the outcome I'm thoroughly enjoying the trip.
The heroine is definitely someone to like because of her direct attitude and fighting spirit. The plot is deep with both good-looking boys having their reasons of liking her. I don't feel that the characters change much, but their personalities generate many comical moments. The drawing is good as well. If you are a shoujo type, do read.

Manga like this one are hard to accurately gauge since they don't really take themselves seriously. (Hell, they even made a joke out of her parents marital struggles). While Otome and Touyou's relationship is incredibly contrived and ridiculous, it's hard to get annoyed since the even that is handled in a satirical manner.
I'll admit that the way Otome just "falls in love" is almost eye-rollingly pathetic. But still it's played as a joke up until the end and she's one of the few shoujo heroines that actually kick ass The secondary characters were all interesting as well. Tokio and his gang and Misao.

This manga is seriously hot. The love triangle spin is just a bonus to the cool storyline. Everything you want in a shojo manga is in this story. You will even like the villain. It's ditzy, it's cute, it's heartwarming and it's romantic. Read it with your boyfriend.
Seriously. Sometimes shoujo manga has the ability to make you want to throw up while you're reading it. But not this one. Sure it looks like "just another shoujo manga" to some, and somewhat predictable storyline. What makes Otomentaru better than your regular shoujo is that it surprises you when you think you got it all figured out. Plus the art is good. I love the supporting characters especially Otome's grandma and her crazy antics. When I first saw her, I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt. And, the precious "stunned" expressions on Tokio & the gang when Otome told them the reason not to pick a fight with Touyou. Lol.

You probably already know of Yokoyama's atypical very realistic and very super awesome heroines. They are all that plus oodles of attitude and self respect and fiestyness to spare. I like the steady character development and the multiple layers to all characters. Unbeatable art per usual! Very unexpected from start to well... as far as the scans go for now! Do yourself a favour and read it! NOT your typical love triangle!
