I really want to like this but I just can't

Update:
This whole thing isn't a spoiler, anything specifically mentioned or revealed here happens by chapter 5, with most of it happening in the prologue or first chapter.

Original:
The MC is effectively a living god, like, first chapter he murders 3 trained soldiers in full plate mail with a hostage by using the bare fists of a 13 year old elf that's presumably malnourished to some degree.
(very minor spoiler)
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
He then goes to a fort, changes his form into what is essentially a soul-devouring invulnerable being, massacres the garrison of troops, and stores several metric tons of supplies in a dimensional pocket, something that is apparently unheard of in that particular world.

You might be asking: "How is he able to do all of this"; well, the answer is 'magic', and not 'magic' in the sense that he's some sort of wizard (though he is), i'm talking the magic of vague, barely explained parts of the story's universe that work like they do because the author said so.

Don't worry though, in case you think all there is in this story is vague, deus ex machina crap, you'll also get to enjoy significant portions of chapters explaining things such as: how and why the MC cooked deer liver the way he did, how much the MC just looooooves some elf girl that the reader seems to be expected to care about, the MC's theories based on nothing but assumptions and intuition, and much much more.

I understand that some people enjoy stories that are basically just OP protagonists wailing on bad guys and building harems, and I can even tolerate that as long as it's a good story, but this is just neither. It's a power trip that leaves you unfulfilled, and the writing does its utmost to kill any engagement you have in the story with giant blocks of text full of trivial crap. I do not want to be told how great an MC is, what he does, and how he does it; I want to be shown an entertaining story about a cast of characters that I am made to care about. Maybe it gets better later on, maybe the author figures out that I don't care about how to deal with the bile in a deer liver when cooking it, but I just can't bring myself to slog through it and find out.

Deux Ex Machina

Bizarre!

First of all, the description on Manga Updates is useless. The main character is NOT a genius magician and he even admits this in the prologue. Its only after reincarnating in a fantasy world where magic is commonplace does he really learn magic... not that it matters.

The story simply gives him whatever knowledge/skills/abilities he needs at any given time with the excuse of "he learned it in X world before". The very first time he kills, he kills TWO soldiers in full plate armor with hand-to-hand combat skills, the body of a 13-year old and no magic, tools or technology to assist him.

Again, not that it matters. This is AFTER he took part in a "last bastion of humanity"-war against a Demon Lord in a previous world. But somehow, despite following the hero of said war to victory, he apparently never killed anyone. Weird huh?

Again, not that it matters. The story quickly bogs itself down with meaningless situations. The urgency and difficulty of feeding newcomers is instantly and mentally solved by the protagonist before the newcomers are even permitted to enter. The secret behind a military defeat is instantly revealed through pure conjecture. The difficulties and intricacies of building up a village/country is rendered meaningless through magic.

Interesting management style of a village... I feel this type is becoming more common. I enjoy reading this for it has trade, technology implementation from advance periods to medieval time, and also fantasy creatures.

Its very shallow, no depth to the story despite the excellent setting. It reads like reading a phonebook, info, info, info.

Verdict: Boring!

okay read the new chapters and I have to say that this doesn't even give the MC good fights because magic solves almost everything, I'm just going to read and see where it ends... If Mc is just going to solve everything right away without problems or hitches then I'll drop it

Reincarnation, OP progagonist and cute girl. Probably harem later on but I don`t intend to read so far. Somethig that that novel has done better than most others is the reason for reincarnation. Actually the prologue is quite good. It is not "he died and woke up in fantasy world" but "He wanted to reincarnate and he found a way for that to happen".
Still there is no worthwhile story to keep me on board. Too bad.
