While I did enjoy quite a bit of this story even with the random skills and the whining mc but the later chapters 89 as of now has killed any desire to continue reading this story goes from funny to a bit sad with humor to just plain dark and depressing welp i am off to reread Legendary Moonlight Sculpture to make my soul feel good or maybe the bow chief guy

It's a decent story that has a worse reputation than it deserves IMO.

I think a lot of people really enjoy Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?, read some of this, see that there's similarities, and then decide to just judge it by comparing the two. Personally, I really don't think this is a fair comparison to make, as Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? is significantly farther along than this (the translated chapters anyway) and has had more time to develop the world and a compelling storyline. To say that this is just "'Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?' - Dragon edition" is a vast oversimplification and ignores the complexities of both works.

That being said, I think there are still plenty of fair criticisms to make about this work. As Wickian points out, the skills and titles seem to be a bit frivolous, but that seems to be changing a bit as the work progresses and the writer improves. I think Veridis also makes a good point that one particular evolution choice leaves the reader frustrated, but looking at the whole set so far (Chapter 88), that's pretty much an isolated case (imo).

To discuss another point that Veridis makes, I think that the MC's deliberations about wether to act as a dragon or a human can be considered an integral part of this work, and I personally find it interesting. This isn't a story about, say, a lone spider monster in a labyrinth murdering everything in its path for 88 chapters; this is about a guy, reborn as a dragon, left to wander as an egg, trying to grow and reconcile 'who' he is with 'what' he is, as well as find suitable companionship.

If you don't care about those kinds things, you probably aren't going to like this as much as, say, Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?. If you are interested in those topics, then I definitely recommend this to you.

As a side note, I feel that I should mention that some of the translations are a little painful to read, particularly early on, so if you can't tolerate that kind of thing, you may want to avoid this until someone improves those chapters.

"Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?" - Dragon edition... but worse.

Bad characters, bad setting, bad writing.

What else is there to say? There are so many free webnovels these days (translated and natively in English) that theres no point in settling for bad works. Do a little research and read the best you can find... just make sure you don't listen to the hardcore fans too much.

Bland story and bad writing

It's not terrible overall, but it is bad. Getting skill after skill at the drop of a hat with no rhyme or reason is bad writing. If he gets fall resistance after falling once, clumsy after tripping once, a liar title after lying once, a hero title after saving someone once and so on then why not get an obscure skill/title for EVERY SINGLE THING HE DOES just to keep consistency? The writer doesn't do this though and limits the skill and title gains to his discretion as the narrator instead of writing about a system that makes some kind of sense.

Lazy writing and bad planning wrapped around a generically "I'm gonna be an evil dragon who can also be good if I want" plot makes for a bad story.

It is pretty interesting when he gets to evolve and the paths he can take, but he keeps ****ing up and makes to slow down almost to a dead halt. He doesn't act like a dragon at all, and keeps on trying to be more human. All in all this novel gets a So-so

This reads like "Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?" except than mc is a dragon and none too bright. Seriously, he is pretty annoying with all his whining. It looks like he is on the road to being OP and there is no harem in the future as far as I can tell since at the end of the day, he is a glorified lizard.
