Actually good RPG reincarnation fantasy!

Competently written, plotted and enjoyable RPG villain reincarnation story. Amazing, I know. It's even got *pacing*.

Kazuki is reincarnated into the psychotic main villain of an action RPG kind of thing (think Tales of?), and naturally wants to avoid bad ends; so the usual story, although not very common in the shounen genre in comparison with the myriad villainess reincarnation stories out there. However the story is set apart by being actually a fricking *story* story, competently crafted, even PLANNED. The MC is amusing, the side-characters have *character*, things make SENSE. Here are a few features:

- no numbers, no status screens, no gamey elements
- the main character is OP and it makes ACTUAL SENSE because he was at the very least a penultimate boss villain in his original game
- although originally wanting to change as little as possible, the MC's changes into the plot butterfly things a lot
- the MC doesn't even notice when he's basically turned into the brooding and dark shounen rival archetype
- the MC tries to lie to himself that he just wants to avoid death flags, but they are soooo obviously such a goody two shoes
- no haremy harem haaremus
- no faceplanting into crotches
- no slaves

All in all a reincarnation fantasy with a very low otaku-patheticness quotient. Recommended, even, if you want to find some actual good reincarnation stuff.

Reminds me of Koshaku Reijo no Tashinami (Novel)

Pretty solid start, I'd recommend giving this a try if you like smart MCs.

The content of the story is very different, but the MC reminds me of the one in Koshaku Reijo no Tashinami (Novel). The MC's got a good head on his shoulders, which can be a refreshing change-of-pace, and he's got pretty rock-solid information about the game he got reincarnated(?) into. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but I expect that the scheming will be balanced with some battles, but who knows.

The only real issue I have with it (it's a minor one) is that the author seems to have his head lodged firmly up his own ass in regards to how friggin amazing Japanese culture is. Additionally, the way the MC's plan gets executed and iterated seems a bit convoluted at times, but that's mostly due to external factors influencing it, thus I'm willing to forgive it.
