I enjoyed the book overall. No remotely sane person would act the way the MC did, though ( just my humble opinion).
Not to be mean but it looks like a lazy plot route.

He had what? Two years in the hospital to think about his revenge? Avenging your brother's death by waltzing into a yakuza's office. Spontaneously trying to cut the big bad 'villain' with a fruit knife the same day just seems like the stupidest idea anyone could come up with.
Not to be mean but it looks like a lazy plot route.
