The premise was really interesting, however 70% of the content is uncomfortable rape scenes. About halfway through I found myself disengaged and no longer invested in any of the characters. I just kept reading because I wanted to know how it ended.

There were times that I found myself sympathizing with the abusers and that felt really disgusting, however I'm sure that was intentional on the part of the author and I think shows skill at being able to illicit such an emotion. The manhwa was definitely an interesting commentary on the dichotomy and complicated aspects of abuse.

I think it could have been a lot better if we had more access to each character's thoughts and motivations, or at the very least the MC's. The emotional connection I wanted to have with him was just not there.

Um, where to begin? I knew this would be a messed up story going in, so I’m honestly not complaining about that. I’m not going to read an ero-guro manga and then complain about how gross it is, I signed up for this mess.

That being said... what did I just read? Um, the art work was beautiful. The story was engaging enough that I read the entire thing from start to finish. The weirdness of the story... it was over the top. And I’m not even talking about the rape, which was of course over the top as well.

By the end the MC got exactly what he deserved. I wanted him to be happy, but even in the side story (the author gives alternate endings where the mc ends up with a different guy) he’s so focused on his rapist, he can’t move on and be happy. I guess he had Stockholm syndrome? I’m sad he couldn’t get the help he needed after such severe abuse. How would he go back to that when all he wanted the entire time was for it to end?

I’m not impressed. I’m disappointed. He deserved a happy ending after all of that. But the author wouldn’t let him have that. Not even in the alternate ending, which really pissed me off.

All in all, it’s just torture porn and I shouldn’t have expected anything else.

I read the summary, and thought what the fuck would someone have to do to redeem themself after gang raping their boyfriend. So then I decided to read it out of curiosity, but it just kept getting worse as the chapters went on. I lost my patience after about 30 chapters, and decided to just skip to the end to see what the point of this whole story was and I'm glad I didn't waste my time reading the whole thing. There were so many things left unresolved, little character development, and no point to the whole story line. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading psychological/dark/manipulative stories from time to time, but if you compare something like this to killing stalking or anything by Harada it falls short by a lot and in many ways.

MC ends up with the guy that orchestrated his gang-rape. Love interest literally had his friends gang-rape MC and watched it happen with a smile. MC is somehow with him by the end. What sort of madness is this please? This is what happens when authors stupidly try to redeem the irredeemable. He should have been in jail, not having a romance tf. The way it was framed was not just a depiction of a messed up relationship, to paraphrase one of the commenters. If it was just a story of an abusive relationship, without an romanticizing, then that would've been different. Instead, their story was framed (by the end) as "ok he did fucked up stuff, but he regrets it and is trying to make up for it so that he and the MC can be together." There is no amount of making up that will make what he did okay.

I feel like I need to defend my rating

Idk if anyone else noticed this but the author isn't exactly romanticizing the rape and the abuse. She's purposely telling a story of a terribly unhealthy relationship, without hiding any bit of the manipulation and mind-fuckery that comes with it. She could have easily thrown in more fluff to soften the plot and make it easier for the readers to accept the relationship, but she didn't.

I also appreciated that dedication to the characters, as messed up as they were. The side stories were a good example of this -they were extremely close to canon and the author didn't waste any page space giving us an ideal happy ending. She made it clear in the side stories that a happy ending doesn't exist with the characters being the way they are.

It's not a fun or pleasant story to read. But it's solid enough in plot and character development, and interesting enough to keep many of us reading. That said, I'll probably NEVER read this manhwa again.

There is no hope

This was just torture porn...over and over and over again. It lost the human element 20 chapters in, or at least that's when I lost hope for the human element. Don't get me wrong, I love some consensual non-consent and rough sex. This, however, made me seriously lose hope and feel straight emotional pain.

The comment from earlier is right. The description is a lie and gets turned on its head almost immediately.

I have given more than one star because although the character development was one dimensional and the story had so many issues that it tired me out, the art was nicely done. I don't see any good bdsm practices in here though, just a heads up.

Edit to kind of respond to @drifting:
While this story doesn't romanticize abuse and does show it being painful and bad, my problem with it is the normalization of abuse. I feel it is normalized through the acceptance of the abuser's emotional manipulation as well as the familial elements the author brought in to support the abuser. Also, dont even get me started on the choices the victim makes when confronted with the opportunity to protect or reject his abuser. All of this is painful normalization that expanded for 70+ chapters without a moral turn.

I was really hoping that this wouldn't be yet another glorification of rape, but it's worse than that. It's an incredibly realistic depiction of rape (and PTSD) that then turns into that. I thought I would at least try to read a little longer after checking to see how it ends, but when the abusive ex boyfriend scolds the protagonist for "talking in [his] baby voice again" after raping him I had to quit. Regressive trauma isn't sexy. Rape isn't sexy. Torture and kidnapping aren't sexy.

NONE of this could be called BDSM, I don't care if someone gets tied up or not. This is abuse, and it's vile.

What's with torture porn? Why do people love it so much? And why would someone write a teaser that makes it seem like the MC's going to be reliving mental torture in a PTSD way with his lover helping him? 25 chapters in and why the hell is it all just more torture?
It gets a 3 for art and for initially interesting me, and for having me read 25 chapters and still hoping the MC ends up with the man who helped him get over his nightmares...

I really liked this at first because the art's nice and it's full of smut, but it was just too dumb. it went on and on and there was no pay off to his torture, it was just unpleasant and dumb. and then he ends up with the dbag seme in the end anyway, instead of the other two who were better options. it tries to redeem the seme in the last few chapters by being like "oh he was in love with him all along, and was just bad at it lol" but at this point it was beyond saving.

You've all heard stories about people who just have chronically horrible taste in boyfriends & had a long string of bad relationships. It's hard to say of Ha Gyeong-Soo/Kyung-Su attracts crazy rapists like Yellow Jackets to meat, or if being with him drives men over the edge, but the poor guy ends up with 3 sexual partners who are all possessive, crazy, & at some point willing to kill eachother.
