Cute and Healthy and Definitely Not What You'd Expect

Honestly the healthiest and most consensual and safest relationship ever?? Like, they're just so happy and they communicate and their friends are so supportive and it's all the actual relationship goals ever. No stupid drama, no shitty love triangles, no yaoi cliches, just a pure and good (and actually really hot) webtoon featuring two dudes who are awesome.

Healthy Representation

First of all, the title is (thankfully) misleading! The name "All About Lust" refers to the beginning of both main relationships depicted in the manhwa. There's a misunderstanding that makes one or both parties to think it's just about sex, but they soon realize that's not the case at all.

The manhwa is split into two seasons. Unlike in other webtoons, not all seasons are dedicated to one couple. There are two main couples, and each one of them takes the spotlight on one of the seasons.

The first season centers around Wooseung and Sunjin. They confess their attraction for each other right off the bat and their relationship quickly develops into love. They're great at communicating with each other and their love is beautiful, funny, and realistic.

The second season centers around Beomchul and Jaehee, who have a slow burn rivals-to-lovers dynamic. They go around in circles and struggle to figure out their feelings for each other. In my opinion, they're the true embodiment of the manhwa's title, All About Lust, since Wooseung and Sunjin make it clear that they really love each other very early on.

All About Lust is a great depiction of healthy relationships, consent, and communication. There's no dragged out childish drama, toxic jealousy, nor any other stupid trope that fetishizes gay men. The manhwa is charming and down to earth, and my only criticism is that it's hard to feel interested in the cast's artistic endeavors, which in turn causes the reader to feel bored at times.

“All About Lust” is all business. In it’s 60 chapter run, it completes not one, but TWO romance storylines. Both being raunchy and adorable in varying quantities, while building a cast of characters that are pretty spell-binding. Art school seems to be a bountiful setting for manhwa, which I’m sure is largely in part to the author being able to wax-lyrical about topics and arguments that are close to their own little artist hearts. Because of these qualities, “All About Lust” has managed to worm itself into my heart and remained there through 3 complete readings. This is in spite of it’s shorter, and less drama filled (apart from the 2nd pairing) storylines. I do feel it could have been longer, particularly after having read the additional 20 epilogue chapters. Don’t set up pins you aren’t going to knock down! It is frustrating seeing interesting themes like the alienation between the passions and job, family and adult life generally being flashed but not cashed. Read it though, it's great.

Great communication between leads

I loved the first couple and their communication. It was really refreshing to finally read something without misunderstandings or pointless second male leads.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I also love when the top is shorter.

As for the other couple, they were fine, but I enjoyed them much more when the plot wasn't so focused on their relationship. Or to be more precise, I disliked bumchul. I also dislike how alcohol was handled, it was portrayed as an indicator to development and an excuse for skinship. Funny once, tasteless twice. I guess this is how many people act during college, but still...

The funny part is that Jungmin said that in bl comics the whole world is gay. Literally fourth wall breaking, since everyone here was gay too.
The art was truly great too, characters were very expressive and a bit cartoonish-like. For example in my eyes Sunjin was a little similar to mickie mouse.

The title of this manhwa is what lured me into reading this at first..
I'm glad I've checked this out... This became my instant favorite!!!!
Both of them are perverted but take each others feelings into consideration...
I like how they properly communite their feelings..
I'm really jealous of their happy and healthy relationship!!!

Dammit this manga is soo sweet that I started hating myself for not having a boyfriend!!!
I definitely recommend reading this...

Really excellent!!! Wholesome story and "enemies" to lovers story

All About Lust features two main couples. Each season covers a couple.

I will say that this series was SO good. The writing, the art, the smut scenes (the panel framing holy shit), the character designs, how masterful they set the scenes, and the flow of the story. The characters had depth to them and didn't feel forced or awkward during their interactions. Their personality and the type of person they were was so well written of both the main characters and side characters

I loved the first couple and the wholesome, very consensual gradual romantic relationship development between someone having sexual lust and the other platonic lust. My favorite chapter from them was side story 13, 16 and 18 probably!

The second couple I also loved them. They started out with shouting at each other all the time but gradually because of the physical lust developed their relationship nicely. I love enemies to lovers trope. Honestly the second couple relationship was so cute after they moved on from the bickering stage....I can say now they are my favorite dynamic wise.
My favorite chapter about them was #37, side story 4 and 6....
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
especially the bathroom scene and him asking the glasses guy if he could kiss him. I did NOT expect the one with glasses to be the bottom. Also I loved how one of them had already started liking the other before they started with the physical relationship so it didnt seem so random of a relationship. I LOVED how the one with glasses ended up having such a gap moe towards the end of the series and how cute he became within their relationship. The black haired one being the more level headed and almost poker faced one, the glasses one being more shy and cute and having a personality that does not match appearance
.
I appreciate the contrast of three type of Lust the author-nim covered and that a relationship dynamic can start out different between couples.

About the roommate and the character with the hat: I loved how their characters were written.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
They never created major drama and were vital in the relationship development of each couple. I especially appreciate the author writing the red haired character as asexual and how they wrote the character. Also I think I saw that the author will start a new series in 2023 March! I could be wrong but one of the cover characters looks exactly like the roommate! (Tall short spikey black haired roommate that liked the one with glasses.

Great!

What I probably enjoyed the most while reading is that while it starts off with a big bang, you're really taken on a journey with these characters and understand them so well by the end.

You might start off with a lot of preconceived notions, for example, that Wooseung is ~too pure~ for sex, that all Sunjin cares about IS sex. It made me very happy that these were subverted.

A strong theme in this manwha is friendship. Wooseung's friend Jungmin may be long-suffering but she's always there for him, and JJ is a friend to Sunjin and Jaehee who enjoys hearing about their lives, especially their love woes, though he's acearo. Beomchul's roommate has feelings for him but ultimately chooses to support him as a friend.

Beomchul and Jaehee's relationship is a lot more rocky than Wooseung and Sunjin's. They're top of their class and are constantly bickering, putting each other's art down. It takes a lot for them to realize that there's more to it and that they can make it work. I might have enjoyed their story a bit more because of the rockiness.

There is quite a fair amount of sex depicted, fantasy and real, and I really like how it was done. It was used as a way to explore curiosity, fear, love etc. A++ for this alone.

CW: Implication that if Wooseung had said no to sex Sunjin might have forced it.

Maybe it's because the first main couple was really sweet and had a healthy relationship, but the second main couple didn't do it for me. Regardless, the romance came naturally and not dramatically forced and I had fun reading it.
