Isaak Overview (as of chap.29)

Characters
Most characters are bland. Issak escapes this for the most part as his backstory and approach dealing with problems is interesting.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
His bland personality is more of an issue later on, when Lorenzo is absent from the story.
Lorenzo is the most interesting character in the story, for the same reasons as Issak, in addition to his personality and goals. Even when he isn’t on the page, an antagonist that’s as competent as the main character being present in the setting is engaging. Characters like the generals, the nobles, Zetta and Klaus (he’s still relatively new) are almost interesting but lack the adequate characterization.
Plot & Setting
Interesting blend of historical combat and war strategies with a hyper competent hero and villain, each with a personal motive. [spoiler]Which is why the plot takes a dip when Lorenzo leaves the plot, as his personal goal is paused and Issak and allies no longer have to deal with an equally dangerous and competent antagonists. The setting is well-researched (to my standards) and presented, limitations of the setting and characters are clear and consistent.
Pacing & Presentation
Pacing takes advantage of the monthly format, with most chapters having downtime and action. As for the presentation, the sfx, costume and background details are amazingly intricate, especially considering the amount of 50+ page chapters released in a row. This along with the art style immerse into the world.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Background detail has dropped slightly in the couple volumes, if I had to nitpick.
