Mixed Impressions

For what it is, this story is a delightful little one-shot with well thought-out characters, setting, and plot. That being said I can't help but think this work fails far short of its potential in the form of a single-volume Harlequin manga.

If done properly this stroy could have been written as a fully-developed romance spanning several volumes in length. There is a lot to be told, and many details are skipped over in order to expidate the plot's conclusion. As a reult of this story fails to provide a complete picture to the reader, which is somewhat of a literary tragedy.

A Prince Needs a Princess

Full disclosure - I really hate Harlequin romances. I've always thought of them as nothing more than pandering girl-porn, so formulaic they could be written by a computer program. Still, the same could be said for a lot of shoujo manga I at least mildly like, so I bought this piece to see if pretty pictures can make pulp romance any more palatable.

Apparently not. Although the art was well-done, A Prince Needs a Princess did nothing more than verify all my gripes against pulp romance. When I realized I could predict everything that was going to happen on every next ten pages, I shelved this book.

Of course, if you are a fan of Harlequin romances, as hundreds of thousands of women apparently are, you'll certainly love manga adaptations of them. After all, if you've already read this awful novel, you won't mind knowing everything that's going to happen on every page.

I agree with Disremembrance the manga is a relaxing read compared to the majority of manga out now. The only problem I found with it is being too short/too quick, so many thing's could of been added, but netherless a good story.

Nice. Short, but worth it.
I find it strange how the heroin fell in love like that, it seemed weird. 0-0
Just.. didn't feel like she really did, even though she and the ones around her said so.
