Hey Ladies!Get A Load Of The Mahoro Cannon!
Well let's deal with the elephant in the room....The Bonner is a legit plot point. It serves the purpose of reminding us that the main character is a MAN.One of the problems with traps is that they don't justify being a trap. It's like if a dude cross dress as a girl, and does not do anything guy related,he might as well be a girl in the first place.
Fortunately this manga(at least if you are a dude)does not solely depend on the Mahoro Cannon. This manga as a supernatural/scifi element to it.The main character also has this special power to produce hearts (Literally) when he sings. Thus the story has our main enter a special idol school to get a device called "ios". That sort of helps develop his powers. That school is only girls,so he has to cross dress to go into it.
It also has a harem. The main character has a small group of girls he made has friends.
All I will tell you is that this manga has some meaningful thought and effort put into it.At least it is nowhere near as lazy as Nanoha and Screw, and worth some time.
He is the ultimate female "fantasy" right now lol.Every girl would want "that"......

Idol series with balls??
I don't know what this will become, it's still is only 3 chapters long but it looks for me to be the case of trying a bit too much.
Story summary and my simple thoughts on it. Series starts with Mahoro a girl that wants to become the "King of Idol" and to sing her mother's songs for the world. So to be able to become an idol she tries to enroll to NEMS - a school for girls that aim to be an idol. She meets 3 girls - Hitomi, Mirai and Sena. All of them need to take a trial if they want to get to NEMS which is a concert before a public. Mahoro takes it as the last girl and she sings with her 'special' voice, powerful enough that it projects some sorta illusion of a heart. After the concert all of our girls pass the trial and we're shown that Mahoro is in fact a boy. They go to their new school, move in to academic and go to her new senpai, Gemini, concert which like Mahoro also seems to have some sorta special voice. He gets carried on by the song, sings with her. He gets praised by Gemini but runs a bit after his performance. Sena - one of the 3 girls he met at the trial concert - runs to see what happened and caught Mahoro taking a shower. She runs and as Mahoro wants to explain herself he shows her his 100% power dongcopter. He explains his reasons and Sena gets that he's a son of an idol that pushed her to becoming one, so she lets him in and will keep the secret but as he was just after singing one of her mother's song to her, he gets erected which he explains happens all the time after he sings.
The execution isn't bad, we get decent characters that needs progression and more of their story which will happen cause it's really early. We get decent story-line just girls and one guy that aims to becoming an idol, pretty simple. Upon that we also get hint of some sorta special power with Mahoro voice that can project a heart and then everything is strongly sprinkled with fan service involving girls and Mahoro alike it seems, which at least at this point isn't overdone. Last thing - Wakaki art is great as everyone knows, it suits idol theme too.
Comedy didn't click with me. The 'boner' parts jumped out of nowhere and made me confused in which direction this thing heads. I'm the guy that maniacally laughs at every Grand Blue chapter so dick jokes aren't anything special, but with our concept as a manga full of cute girls aiming to become idols it feels really out of place - well until we'll go fan service route. It also feels like it tries to many different things which are setting me off and I can't focus on the good side of this manga more than I probably should.
So here we are, with a series that is something that could go in any direction. To me, it seems like Wakaki have chosen to embark a route of a big mix of genres in a 'becoming an idol' manga. This mixture is an exploding one but at least the series is full of energy and have a chance to become unique in a really stable idol series market. I'm actually looking how it'll unfold, the jokes could get better and series could make more sense in which direction it heads but until it fully unwraps itself I'm just really confused by it and that's not the best sign even after only 3 chapters.
