In order to fulfil her mission of bringing peace to her homeland, the Uyghur Princess Amelia travels to Chang'an and marries Emperor Dezong of Tang's ninth prince, Li Qian. While she had been considered very capable in her homeland, the complex and foreign customs of the Tang court are something else entirely; and although she had not expected love in a political marriage, the sheer disinterest and arrogance of her husband is very hard to handle, no matter how capable and handsome he may be. Securing peace between the Uyghur Khaganate and the Tang Empire is not going to be easy, especially with a rebellion taking place in Tang.

An Unforgettable Take on Historical Manhua
Rating: N/A

When I first picked it up, I admit, the title threw me for a loop. After every chapter, I kept anticipating some disgusting, revolting thing to be done by the grand Ninth Prince, but it surprised me, really. It turned out to be one of my all-time favorites of manga, manhua, manhwa, and American comics, quite unexpectedly. I was so desperate, in fact, to get more of this manhua that I took a sneak-peak at the raw versions in Chinese and translated them myself. Really, it'll keep you out of your chair constantly.

Main Characters and the Romance: Basically, Amelia (later Ming Yue) is this free-spirited, iron-willed, fiery, innocent, and almost oblivious princess that has a love for the outside world. When you are first introduced to her, she's a bit annoying and a little conceited, though that should be expected due to her insecurity of leaving her precious homeland. However, as the story proceeds, we take a peek into her actual personality: kind, loving, generous, forgiving, and hilarious. She is being married to this cold, arrogant-seeming prince, Li Qian, who seems to have absolutely no interest in her, but shows no true animosity. Again, character development stretches on, and we get a better side to his character: diligent, aloof, very powerful, strong, protective, and even a little loving. Obviously, Ming Yue's crazily oblivious personality and his cool, indifferent one don't seem to match, but, little by little, Ming Yue breaks his ice. Her pure obliviousness and total disregard for social conduct makes him laugh continuously and makes him more affectionate toward her. Due to his protectiveness and kindness, she starts to fall for him as well. Their relationship is very, very slowly progressing (the scanlated chapters have spanned to 103 chapters, and they still haven't kissed!), which is actually a very realistic and likeable aspect.

Plot: Though the beginning was highly misleading, Prince, Don't Do This! is actually about the rebellion and political conspiracies within the palace, not the romance. While Ming Yue is the main character and protagonist, the narrator has a birds' eye point of view. Slowly, the character direction slowly slips off of Ming Yue and her exploration of this new world, and toward assassinations, murders, pasts with dark secrets, and giant revolts. While Ming Yue remains clueless of the true events, the readers get the know-how through the emperor's discussions, the concubines' conspiracies, and the other members of the royal family's thoughts. It's quite honestly the most fascinating manhuas I've ever had the pleasure to encounter, despite the misleading title. While we have Ming Yue, her daily troubles, and her relationship worries on one hand, we begin to meet characters that she meets and their later private involvements in the massive rebellion.

I highly suggest this! The comedy is hilarious and evened out perfectly by the dark themes, the plot is well-established because of the slow untangle of the cobwebs of the rebellion, the art is absolutely gorgeous, and the characters are very much likeable due to the exceptional character development. It's truly a fantastic manhua, and very much unlike the ones that we've all gotten bored with.

This isn't like the basic romance manga. The female is so adorable. She isn't naïve and obnoxious furthermore she is quite balanced. The prince, though he is cold to her, it is because of the way he was raised and all the things he had to go through. Romance isn't the whole plot at all. The plot revolves around the rebellion that takes place in Tang dynasty and how Amelia gets targeted. The romance is slow paced which is something that I like. Their development is quite nice. Definitely give this a go
