I cried

I cried hard. And I can count the times I've cried over a book, movie, show, manga on one hand. The art & story and both simple and beautiful, not lacking tho. I got a little attatched in those 5 chapters. I love the way the mangaka showed the passage of time and her repeated themes. Highly recommed for anyone looking for a hit to the feels.

Worth Losing Your Sleep (and Soul) Over This

Gwad. I cried. This. This is what gives me hope and pulls me out every time I am drowning in the murky water of yaoi that’s just complete filth with rape, mind-break, gas lighting, etc being peddled as sexually thrilling, and enjoyable. The characters drawn by Miya are strong. They are also weak, lonely, scared, get angry, make mistakes but also recognize them as such, apologize for them, and try to rectify them. Everything isn’t brute force.
The mangaka of Complex sure can learn something from this; how NOT to make every single character an absolute douchebag. Where the seme just forces himself on the uke saying, “I love you”, and wow-wow the uke suddenly loves the seme back.

When a BL story ends at a crucial moment and you wish to read more, this manga shows you exactly how things go down. And then you cry. And you cry a lot. The last chapter of the series (not the extra) made me feel very miserable even after I stopped crying. It's ridiculous. Also, before that, the chapter in which they were both 28 yo until they were 36 yo was very impactful and depressing. I literally felt my stomach drop while reading it. There's one thing I can tell about this series: it's so fluffy and engaging, that you end up having too many feels about it. A masterpiece.

Lifetime of emotions!

I read this gem without first reading the summary (went in blind), so I was very surprised when I realised I was reading a emotional and well written and drawn, slice-of-life yaoi masterpiece! I can't say much without giving away the best parts. So, just please read this. Put everything down, take some time out and enjoy this pure gem. (You won't regret)

P.s: this story showcases stages in the couples life and is a full life story, so although no EVERY minute of their life is shown, I feel IMO, the parts that are, we the right amount and we're excercuted perfectly.

Not bad

I've read Hako no Naka, so this one just felt stale for me. It has almost the same ideas, same feel and the same execution. I divide them into four parts (more detailed explanation hidden below)
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
1 - before the split - Hako - very questionable, This one - OK.
2 - the split - Hako - Incredible, wonderful, the FEELZ, This one - meh.
3 - after the split to the death - Hako - Incredible, wonderful, the FEELZ, This one - meh
4 - after death - Hako - Incredible, wonderful, the FEELZ, This one - meh

So as you can see, Life Senjou no Bokura wins only in the first part, the other 3 are much, much worse. Why? Because this manga is too short to embrace all it wants to, it's too shallow. Essentially, it's Hako no Naka for the weak-hearted and for those who just don't want to read the novel or don't have time, or are repulsed by the certain topics that the novel brings up.

All in all: very much worth a read, but don't expect anything really stellar.
P.S. After Hako no Naka I cried for hours, seriously. After that novel - this just doesn't grab me.

I wouldn't put this manga into my list of favourites but it certainly did touch me in various ways that's hard to describe. Its execution isn't perfect; I find the way it handled drama a bit clumsy and amateur, but above all that, the emotions it did project are truly genuine and heartfelt and I appreciate that. The ending made me sob real tears, not gonna lie, but then again,

I've never been able to contain myself at the death of a character, so..

Also, I love this author's sense of humour, and her chibi drawings are so cute and hilarious!

Sweet

This was very sweet, and unique enough to be interesting. I don't think I was as blown away by it as most seem to be, but it was an enjoyable read. I don't think it spent enough time on any one time frame for me to become that emotionally invested. By the ending, I wasn't emotionally demolished like I have been with some other full life series(like complex) because I didn't feel I really knew the characters or their relationship very well. For me, that's both a plus and a minus, as sometimes I really don't feel like being emotionally demolished.

Loved it for what it portrayed

Honestly, this has been one of the most realistic Yaoi I've read (and first manga I'm even bother taking the time to rate.)

The manga itself was nicely drawn and held a sense of.... comfort? I don't know how to explain it, but it felt warm without the extra fluff that usually comes with it. It tells the tale of two men going through their lives with and without each other. Honestly, it felt rushed to me too, but I also feel that if the mangaka did go deeper into both their lives, it would've been a bit messy. The pace and timeline the mangaka chose, I think highlighted very well what the two men were going through and those 5 chapters already tugged at my heart strings. I think I'd be crying buckets if the mangaka brought more of their lives to the story. Overall, it was a lovely read!

TRUST ME ON THIS. PLEASE. SAVE YOURSELF FROM THE HELL YOU'RE GONNA EXPERIENCE IF YOU AIN'T GUNNA WAIT.

I beg you. Do not read this review if you haven't finish reading the book. Please.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
At first, I was peeved on how the story was rushed, but bc of this, the way they separated was really painful for me. I swear, I ALMOST cried. Eugh.

OKOK NOW I KNOW WHY I THINK THE MANGAKA "rushed" THIS. FOR ME, THIS HAS THE ALMOST-PERFECT PACE. BECAUSE OF THE PACE, WE GET TO SEE THE CHANGES OF THE CHARACTER'S ATTITUDE AND HOW THEY TREAT EACH OTHER. BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT STILL HAS A SIMILARY THAT WAS CLINGING UNTO THEM EVERYTIME A TIMESKIP HAPPEN. SO EXAMPLE: 17 WAS YOUNG, CAREFREE ETC, 19 WAS CAREFREE, BUT HAS A MATURE TASTE TO IT BC THEY HAD SEX FOR THE FIRST TIME. 21 WAS MORE MATURE BUT WE WEREN'T REALLY SURPRISED, BC IT SHOWED US PROPER PROGRESSION THAT HAPPENED WHEN THEY WERE 19. It's a little hard to explain, but long story short, her way of creating the timeskip has its flaws (it's too short, tbh) but it's also a good way to put us in a feels trip for the 3rd chapter lol

update: I JUST READ THE LAST CHAPTER IN RAW, AND I THINK THAT THIS IS THE MOST REALISTICALLY BEAUTIFUL YAOI MANGA I'VE READ SO FAR. OH GAWD I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START.

//update: I've read chap 5. I'm just going to lay down here and let it destroy me in the most beautiful way imaginable

HOW SHOULD I START. SERIOUSLY, HOW?? SHT THE FEELS IS JUST OVERFLOWING INSIDE ME I CAN'T THINK STRAIGHT. BUT THERE'S ONE THING I LOVED IN THIS MANGA: HOW THE IDEA OF SEX WAS PORTRAYED.

In the first few chapters, it makes us rethink if this is actually a yaoi manga, and not a shounen-ai. We can assume that they first did it in chapter 2 when they were both 19 years old. Ideally. We can only assume because the mangaka never really showed us that they did the deed. So when the mangaka presented their first sex scene in chapter 3, I was excited and devastated when I realized when their sex scene debut was Itou acting up like a cold-hearted scum and Yuuki was too desperate to give pleasure to the both of them. It was a half-assed sex scene, to my relief. When I was reading chapter 5, my heart felt warm for sex in reading yaoi for the first time. In here, Itou expressed how he loved Yuuki through sex, and I felt it (which is surprising because this is yaoi LOLOLOL). I loved how the author's real sex debut of Itou and Yuuki's was heart warming. I loved how the author was romanticizing sex. I loved how the author made me feel the importance of sex with true love. In all honesty, my idea of sex recently kind of went down the drain. Before reading yaoi/smut hetero mangas, my view for sex was an act of something dirty if both parties were nir married. And now, because of reading too much yaoi, I felt that sex can be done with anyone as long as you "love" him. Love as in a momentary feeling. Love that doesn't guarantee a future. But because of this manga and lowkey how sex was portrayed (lowkey bc it's not really their first time having sex), I see sex in a new light. And I never expected it to happen.

Perfectly imperfect

Made me cry!!!! I love these type of 'realistic' gay couple relationship storylines. The creativity and drawing of the first chapter was absolutely adorbs and the last one that I read (chapter 4, still waiting for chapter 5 to be translated) is just absolutely heartbreaking. A big and beautiful contrast.
I love the chapter titles that showed their age and their life events during those times. It pulled the story telling along so perfectly. I felt that they were a bit rushed at times, but I also can't think of anything else the mangaka can add to enhance my feels anyways, LOL. I also connected with Nishi so much that I may seriously think about going into screen writing/creative writing as well. Honeslty, it shook me, LOL.
Finally, we can all agree that we HATE Ito from the bottom of our fujoshi hearts, (he totally broke the code of conduct) BUT it was probably something he had to go through to find his true self, his very selfish true self. Point of the story is NEVER LET GO OF THOSE YOU LOVE.
I'm definitely going to keep up with this author and is very excited to see more of her works in the future. 9.5/10, an imperfect score for breaking mine and Nishi's wittle heart.
