Normally, I hate these memory loss manga from the get-go because they are so, so, so bad on so many levels, but this one intrigued me. However, after having finished reading, and reflecting a bit, I guess since this isn’t that different either in its premise, this manga just makes me a bit uncomfortable. Doubly so, because I do like, even if it is a bit ambivalent, this manga (and so my discomfort is directed more towards my feeling of like for this manga, rather than the manga itself) and Kuroiwa sensei’s work by and large. And, the art is a super plus point in this case as well.
The biggest plus point of this manga is the reversal of memory loss trope because in this case, Ui, the person who is set-up with the memory loss, is a douche who uses the memory loss to his advantage. And, so does Natsuno who is also a douche. Thus, the title fits both of them perfectly and for me the story fulfills its promise of a romance between two bad adults who trick each other, with Natsuno being on the receiving end of things rather than the other way around as it usually is (pun intended). It’s just that this story isn’t really for me. Imaging what it would be like if Ui didn’t have a broken arm just leaves a bad taste in my mouth because the force would behind the action would be greater since Ui still manages to do everything he would have done even if his arm wasn’t broken.
That’s why, despite my fondness for the comical spin this manga has, the self-reflexive way it deals with certain situations, the conversations that take place, and both Ui’s and Natsuno’s characterization as well, I just can’t come to terms with my fondness for this manga. Well, I have bad taste in men anyways (both fictive and real) so this isn’t saying much. Rather, it probably is.

I'm feeling this sort of odd indifference towards this manga, and I'm not quite sure why. It's not completely terrible, and I actually like the art (except for that cover though; it needs to go), but there's just something about the story's delivery that makes me feel rather detached from the whole thing. It's like it never went far enough to fully explore its potential as a drama piece, and neither did it dig deep enough to develop its characters, so in the end it all becomes a hazy ball of cheesy melodrama, you know the usual BL stuff, and doesn't leave much of an impression in any way. Too bad.
