The premise is our MC is a salary-man in the current day who after the death of a university friend of his, begins to reminisce about his uni days with the close group of friends he made. Most of the manga happens in the 80's with occasional flash forwards to the current day.
There in lies the main problem. We are informed early on that his romance with his love interest did not work out and he never really recovered from it. So you are essentially reading his story waiting for their relationship to crash at the back of your mind. Out of the other characters, it appears as though only one pair from uni actually make it as a couple, which is realistic because how many people end up marrying the person they liked in uni in real life.
The manga tries to be high energy with our characters leading active lives and most of the manga happens at clubs, party's, cruises, holiday resorts but even with this the manga still comes of as slightly depressing and melancholic with the foreshadowing of the modern day flash forwards.
