I like the story; everyone is a well-written character, and there is nothing to hate except the antagonist. I love everyone, especially the Misfits class and the teachers. I don't know why some people hate the flow of the story but I really enjoy watching the anime and reading the manga.
looking forward to another arc. can't wait to meet Purson Soi and hear him playing Trumpet at the music festival. This anime and manga are really underrated. This deserves more popularity than ************ people who hate this story didn't enjoy their high school life.

It's for kids. The jokes are rarely funny, the characters are all extremely stupid, and it's basically yet another 'friendship power' type of action manga. One of those mangas where the only way character development can occur is by making the MC start at the very bottom. Disgustingly nice MC, afraid of everything including his shadow, and a complete pushover who only manages to survive due to ridiculous amounts of plot armor. The 'evasive power' is the worst offender. It's the often repeated gag that helps the MC bullshit his way through everything.

This manga made me understand that I'm just too old to read shounen now. I gave it 80 chapters to change my mind, but it didn't. It's basically just a bunch of filler loosely tied together. It tries so hard to be funny that when it tries to be even slightly serious, it just falls flat.

Stick with it

Iruma starts off pretty basic and boring, there's no denying that. You have your basic Isekai premise, your school setting, and your friendship theme. I almost dropped the series after chapter 3 because it doesn't seem like anything all that special. It gets a LOT better. I think Iruma's biggest flaw is that no one really knows what they're getting into when they pick it up the first time – it’s not really an isekai (there is an imminent threat that Iruma could be deported back to the human world at any time), it’s certainly not a battle shounen (though there’s still plenty of fighting), and it’s not a romance (Main Girl shows up once every 50 chapters to remind us there’s a romance subplot). Iruma’s about finding the courage to make your own destiny – and arguably about surrounding yourself with people who support you in doing so. The actual plot goes wherever the hell it wants to get there.

Pros:
The characters are incredible. Each of them is developed separately from the MC, and even the background one-off characters are given engaging personalities that make you love them. They make you look forward to the inter-arc “fluff” chapters almost as much as the arcs.
The story keeps you guessing. Predicting what will happen each chapter and each arc isn't easy. Its shounen elements are common enough that you won’t be *shocked* (sports and cultural festivals, tournament arcs and so on) but the execution is unexpected and fresh.
I wouldn’t call it groundbreaking, but this is a very queer manga. Several characters are pointedly “genderless” and there’s an arc dedicated to the tumultuous romance between two girls.
It’s just a great feel-good read.

Cons:
Like I said, it starts off SLOW. I was not entertained until the villain was introduced around chapter 25, and the two following arcs are not stand-outs. Most people say the manga really gets good around chapter 55.
The early chapters are translated horribly so you're better off watching the anime (though the anime has a very small budget and isn't fantastic either).
If anyone is here for the romance they're going to be disappointed.

To address one comment here, I haven’t seen any real fanservice in this manga. There’s even in-universe magic to prevent upskirt shots!

Started off well, but soon lost its unique points

Initially started with a premise that's not really that original, basically isekai + alien setting without even a proper intro, unlike most isekais where there's a lot of introduction about the new world.

And also, the MC adapted to the new world way too quickly, though there initially was some culture shock and differences being portrayed. Later on though, there were basically no differences between humans and demons in day to day interactions. No physical differences, no flying or any other innate demon characteristics. Instead of the MC adapting more to demon life, it's more accurate to say nearly all the demons became human-like, with them just having superpowers. Oh, and yeah MC was given power through some 'miraculous event' that was never properly explained.

Doesn't that sound familiar? MC with no power given power, MC has some unique characteristics like being more hot-blooded than the rest, being put in a school where everyone has innate superpowers.... Yeah it sounds exactly like My Hero Academia.

Initially though, it wasn't so obvious. But from chapter 70 onwards, the shift towards MHA was so obvious that I would rather read MHA, which has a solid storyline and proper worldbuilding. Not a demon world where everyone behaves like humans.

To be fair though, it's still pretty good, although unoriginal and clichéd. I mean, how hard could it be if you copy themes of some of the most famous shonen manga, especially MHA? Oh yeah, another manga that it seems to have reference to is Mx0, but that one sort of dragged things too long and got ex, but still I prefer Mx0 to its end.

One of my absolute favourite shounen series.

Great humour, loveable characters and good art. A fun story that is usually waff but interspersed with dramatic arcs that gets the blood pumping and even good romance. This series has it all.

Is it original? Not really, but you know what I've found it has that other shounen don't? Actually good pacing and minimal filler so far. I've yet to find the need to put the series on hold due to some Bleach-level overstretched fight scene that lasts 10+ chapters, I haven't rolled my eyes at some bullshit deus ex machina event where the MC suddenly gains multiple power levels for no reason. There is no shitty tsundere love interest nor overly gloating villain. So far every character has been solid be they hero or villain.

Unreadable first chapter scanlation
by AlucardNoir

I've had an account here for over a decade. I've only recently begun using this site to mark what manga's I've read. I decided to try this manga and the first chapter as scanlated by Wicked House Translation & All For Manga Group was so bad I couldn't even finish it. If this get's an official english translated I might try it again but the crap Wicked House Translation & All For Manga Group is unreadable. Scanlation quality sure has gone down hill.

And if you think it's not relevant, this has 200 chapters at the moment I'm writing this review. It doesn't matter how great the later chapters are or are translated if the very beginning is trash. Since I couldn't even complete a chapter, and since I don't really bother reviewing manga on here I'm not going to rate this, just fair warning regarding the atrocity that is the first chapter as translated by Wicked House Translation & All For Manga Group.

One of the best manga out there

It's not the manga with the most complex story and it's not the one with the best drawing either, but heck you get to love all the characters, I must say the music festival arc is one of the best I've read in any manga, I look forward to a second season of the anime. If you read it you won't regret it.

Solid read

I really like this manga, I read 155 chapters and they went by very fast, not once did I feel like it was getting boring. It is a solid read, if you are a fan of extremely ecchi stuff this isn't for you, it has hot and cute girls but not in perverted situations but the content makes up for it, a bit of romance even if it is just one sided on part of the girls.

My kind of humor

I put off reading this for a long time because of the romance tag, but decided to try it out because I saw the anime on crunchyroll and was bored so gave it a try. I can't believe what I was missing out on.

So far from where I am, there is no official couple (EDIT there's an official main couple now), it's all about bettering oneself and others. Any fanservice isn't thrown in your face. I find Ameri and Clara to be really cute. The humor is so my type, the friendship sends me over the moon, the subversions are great (Sabnock is a huge, strong-looking demon who wants to be demon king but ends up needing saved all the time for instance), found family and potential M/M ships all make for wonderful entertainment.
