Really impressive. But very slow burn.

I'm sleep-deprived co sI just binged it after watching the last couple episodes of the anime
So I'll make this brief for now
The quality of writing in this series is genuinely impressive
The mangaka manages to recontextualise events and character dialogue and actions MULTIPLE times throughout he story through the use of flashbacks and shifting perspectives.
For example, there's episode of the anime, which is VERY faithful to the manga, that viscerally made me feel ill due to the emotional impact and events. This is later recontextualised to make me think of it another way, but still just as powerful.
In this way the series is on a constant gradual, slow burn, which allows things to just build and build. Though, that said, things pick up after the first volume and again after volume 4.
