Deep plot with a lot of conflict

Others have said that they've raged at the story. To me, the fact that you would care so much about the actions of the characters says much about the characters themselves. The mangaka has done a great job with pacing. Never rushes into things, and the characters reveal themselves slowly instead of mangaka trying to tell us who the characters are. You begin to understand these characters and realize their feelings. That's why it's so tragic once the conflict begins.

Misunderstandings are the mother of conflict, and conflict is the mother of drama. Momentary misunderstandings in other manga can lead to things that go wrong. But it just sometimes feels so superficial and so... unplanned. But in this manga the relationships are revealed from the first chapter. As the chapters go on, these relationships begin to solidify in the eyes of the reader. The relationship is so believable and so realistic, that when the misunderstandings happen that lead to the questioning of these bonds... it's so ... believable. And heartbreaking. And that my friends is art.

Let's move on to the art. There is a lot of fanservice, and the main character has excellent bodily proportions. Is that what you wanted? Now you have no excuse. Read the manga.

i think the ones who aren't satisfied with the whole thing in/after volume 5 should just think about it. Imagine you're in granpas situation, what would you do? The thing he did was probably the most realistic choice. So yeah just my 50 cents about that, great read in my opinion and a bit more realistic look at romance (not completely realistic, but at least more than the so generic shounen romances). Generic happy ending and a bit predictable, still was enjoyable

This manga is incredibly, incredibly rage-worthy. If you are prone to violent, manga-induced fits of rage, you might not want to read this.
And yet, goddamn it. It must be read. It's really, really very good.
Still. How can the author make us feel for the characters so much and then just make us hate, hate the story? Or rather, the events, because we know how things should be but why won't that happen?
It's a bit like how in a mystery, you as the reader are privileged with seeing the bigger picture. You can see how all the pieces fit together, and you just want to shout at the protagonists with the answer.
But the worst of it is, you really *empathise* with the characters, and their misfortune becomes your depression. It's brilliant for that aspect alone.

Oh, and if you want more Love & Rage, read Good Ending.

Too annoying. I hate it when the situations are arranged to create misunderstandings, And you can't get more of it than in this manga. The main guy starts out as someone uninteresting, then gets some character and then doesn't even try to undrstand what is happening and on top of it deceives himself.
The main girl is kinda good though, but nothing amazing.

In the end I give it a 8 but I'm stopping at the end of volume 6. I don't get any pleasure from reading it, I just wanna go and shake the characters up so they would stop f***ing around

Enthralling story. Depressing story. Enthralling story. Depressing story.

You get the picture. The author puts his characters in such an awkward limbo of kind-of-happy but kind-of-unhappy that the discomfort is passed directly to the reader. I certainly hope the ending is cheerier, but I can't complain about the story so far.

One of the best romance manga...

This is one of the best romance manga I've read. For me, Its one of those manga/anime that you get a bit depressed when you finish it. The length is just right as well imo. Thought there would be some rage moments because of one of the categories and one of the comments below me but its not that bad... I was actually dreading it till that other guy disappeared lol.

Was looking forward to her other works but sad to know the author is gone now sad Definitely recommended if you want to read a somewhat realistic romance with older characters instead of the usual generic shounen middle school/highschool ecchi/romance/comedy.

one of the best seinen romance mangas

I just finished it this morning. Thank you village idiot for taking the time to scanlate this, and releasing them all at once... it was a pleasant surprise.
an incredible manga that I think all fans of Seinen should read, it starts out off pure like a Shonen romance but real life soon rears its ugly head and it becomes dramatic
all the turmoil that people seem to hate about this manga, I'm taking about when things become awkward and the distance between the two characters grows...it all has its purpose.
they develop the two leads separately and it works, their motivations really fuel the misunderstanding that makes this a incredible but frustrating read.
people tend to forget that we read books and manga, and watch films in order to feel something. the fact that this work can invoke such emotion in people proves its worth.
in the end, it's a hell of a ride... and the reader and characters make it there together... I'm glad it wasn't easy because that makes it all the more satisfying when the final curtain falls.
A seinen masterpiece, read it.

This is an awesome manga. All the hate on volume 5, I think along with some rage, the story from his past was very sweet in a way. I liked volume 5 a lot. This manga excels quite well at what it's trying to do, at how it's telling its story. I believe it's noticeably different from similar manga, making it "fresh". Recommended read.
