Mediocre artwork and a somewhat nice story

I don't really understand why people in the comments keep gushing about how amazing the art is. It'd be an okay piece art-wise, if it was published in the early 2000's, but for a 2017 manga, it's rather ugly. Come on, we have so many amazingly drawn mangas nowadays, but this aint one of them imo. Some sceneries were indeed pretty, but the characters were most of the times plain ugly, so overall I found the story much better, than the art itself.

Art aside, the story was quite nice, far from perfect, but enjoyable. The premise was better though, than the execution, which is a shame, because it had the potential to be a great piece. But some unanswered questions and inconsistencies in the story were bugging me throughout the whole book, so in the end I wasn't really satisfied with what I've read. But regardless of these, it was still a pleasant read.

these get me everytime

These kind of cheesy "love will find a way" stories get me every. damn. time. Cried a bucket of tears for this.

Art is great. I really love how this mangaka draws scenery. It conveys so much emotion and really sets the tone for the manga. I do agree that some plot points could have been explained better. This mangaka has a bad habit of randomly inserting another character's POV without transition, which makes for a jarring and strange reading experience and interrupts the emotions the reading is investing in the story. I would have loved one chapter told entirely from Ban's POV where he first meets Issei (maybe even from the high school part. that would have been a really cool explanation for his connection to Issei) and detailing how he came to love him. This would have solidified Ban's characterization a lot more and given more details as to how this "fate" works in this world. Maybe he meets the fortune teller as well. There's a lot that could be done with a chapter like that.

Solid story, regardless. Time shenanigans always end in tragedy.

Not the best work when it comes to this theme

I actually like the underlying idea for this story no matter how many times it's been rehashed before (yes I'm just a tragic romantic lol) as long as the execution does it right. Unfortunately I can't say the mangaka completely nailed it this time; her delivery fell short for me and the artwork actually also has a part in that. Her drawings are detailed and they're usually fine, but sometimes she makes her characters look so jarringly creepy, literally, and it clashes with the mood of the scene, losing me from it just when I was starting to get immersed in that moment. It's a hard thing to explain and I sadly don't really have my way with words -.-' but yeah that's how I feel. There were also a few moments I thought were unclear and not thoroughly explained enough especially when it comes to the motivation behind the main character's final leap. It was one big murky 'heroic' act that could've been more impactful had it been executed better imo.

Excellent Art; Okay Story

Okay, so honestly I feel that as the sheer amount of time that had been spent on the artwork alone had been spent on the story line then it would have been fabulous. This is definitely a new take on the “no matter, regardless of how many times, I will fall in love with you”. I have read various variations on this theme and while some of them are, sadly, about “romantic sex” (rape) and gaslighting, there are very few which are so above board. So, in a comparative sense this is definitely a ten. The paneling especially and the artwork are absolutely remarkable. However, the story is simply too convenient; it seems very little thought has been put into character development and little little things haven’t been properly worked out.

Good cliche.

It brought nothing new to the table, but it still got to me (I read spoilers before even jumping into the story, but still cried through all chapters!), and that's when you know it's a cliche done right. Don't expect anything extraordinary, and for a few the feelings of the two individuals will come across and make it a deeply touching and sweet experience despite the pace of the story and it's simplicity.

Spoiler:
I am grateful for the last chapter because it's an ending that makes all the previous heart-wrenching parts worth it. I feel like these short stories usually end with a conclusion like the 5th chapter, and I appreciate a look past it.
