The novel is better
by Mochileiro

Rating: 5.0  / 10.0
At first they cut only the fat of the original novel, making a not bad experience. But soon the started cutting the neat of the novel in favor of increasing the pace of the Manhua, leaving only the bones of the story.
Unfortunately the meat also was were the pace and charm of the novel was, leaving a husk of a novel which had more than 3000 chapters explained in what can be less than 200 chapters worth of interactions.
This Manhua should be a guy with the wayfinder's luck aka protagonist who will walk a tortuous path with many dangers, but will always come on top, some times by luck, some by hugging the golden thighs of luckier of stronger character or by being intelligent. His character should be a stupid person in a sense that he have little experience in the cultivation world, but completely unafraid to ask to help of other. Unfortunately most of the manhua decide that to make him a bubbly fool, taking the comical edge when something comical happens to him as he is already the butt of the joke and making him look really stupid in all dimensions of this word.

The story should have a good pace, with the mc always have an urgency to act, not being push by the story. But in the manhua it translated poorly and sometimes it looks like things happened without a reason, as the small hint in the novel for the events and why the MC is involved are being cut.

All thing considered, this manhua is not bad, but the novel is vastly superior.

Long buildup for a letdown
by dragonlord7012

Rating: 7.0  / 10.0
First arc where he doesn't understand cultivation exists: Phenomenal, character Is smart, and he engages. First dip in quality happens when he meets an old Senior who acts as Plot-Ex-Machina. Arcs are simple, but amusing, but Protagonist never returns to show any actual intelligence, and just gets worse as time passes until he is the butt of jokes. More and more characters get added on, but none of them ever really feel like they matter, and the original ones get ignored instead of fleshing out a small core group. By chapter 300+ Things seem to be happening just to happen with no real buildup. On chapter 380 and i'm dropping it. Each individual picture is now apparently 'good enough' to explain what is going on, and it just skips over everything. There is no signs of the original "Stressed by a Mountain of Books" , just some Shonen dude who seems to be both a violent luck fueled protagonist, without the benefit of at least being consistently strong. No one he defeats seems to matter, he is an observer in his own story and only contributes by being present to send other, or hand over his reward for a better reward.

Really good for the most part

I really liked it at first, it was really fun and correctly built.

But, around chapter 300
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
when MC is sent to space
, I feel that the pace increased a lot, and I definitely felt it around chapter 380.
300 chapters for 2 months, then not even 100 chapters for more than 1
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
since he spent lots of time in the time palace
, with lots of characters and lots of events happening at the same time.

It just seems like it's rushed, even if it's "not bad".

Was promising and looking good then horribly fell off

First 80 odd chapters were promising and made it look like it was going to be good. However, the MC is insanely stupid so he is constantly in situations he could easily avoid. Also there could be 50% the number of chapters there currently are and it would have no impact on the story, at best half the chapters are good and/or impactful to the story, the rest are filler or the MC being stuck somewhere due to his idiocy.

Interesting but lazy characterisation
by Uthred
June 13th, 2019, 6:20pm
Rating: N/A
The basic premise feels novel and the comedy and general plot is well paced and executed. The only problem is that the characterisation is either non-existent or unconvincing. The main character starts out as a normal college student and literally a week after his "awakening" is callously planning and carrying out murders with no hesitation or remorse. It just feels incredibly fake.
