Description
Genchi is a young man entrusted the role of raising a young girl named Maruu. She is part of what's known as the "Rooks", special children who are sacrificed for the sake of their country when they turn 16 years of age. These "Rooks" are nothing but an urban legend to most people, but to these two, it is their reality. With a limit on their time together, how can they find what is truly important to them?

The entire point of this one seems to be that no matter how terrible a circumstance you were born into is, that is your "normal state." Although there is some truth to this, horrible things are indeed horrible and will effect you, so just living life glossing over it is... Need it even be said? This is especially true of circumstances that are imposed by exterior forces. The characters are setting themselves up for regrets and depression later in life; they'll possibly avoid the entire thing by deluding themselves as they did in the work itself. This element makes the element of human sacrifice more barbaric and terrible, yet the protagonist is completely fine with it. In the end,

nothing changes and the leads become even more dependant on each other.
