More of the same

If you're reading this manga, you probably already read the prequel and this is more of the same. Episodic mystery adventures with a set cast. There is an overlaying plot, but as before it is just something that loosely connects each story. If you hope for pop-culture references, this series is full of them, but if you hope for romance, there is virtually none. The previous series gradually "matured" (art improved, character personalities and format developed) over the first few volumes, this series however has the benefit of coming fully formed.

The ending concludes bugger all, but I expected this much. The author could make more sequels like this, but either there is no longer market for the series or the he had enough after 27 volumes.

P.S. A crossover between Kaibutsu Oujo and Naqua-den could've been interesting, but that's probably not going to happen.
