Mode II kicks off with likeable characters with clear motivations and an overarching investigation; while not groundbreaking - you can't help but want to root for these kids to get to the bottom of things. The beginning chapters, especially involving the teacher, have a great element of tension and suspense that keep you scrolling. It's a shame though that the second half of S1 becomes significantly more muddied. There are antagonists and arcs that feel a bit randomly injected and not fully fleshed out AND especially frustrating is the unveiling of certain plot elements at the very end of S1 that significantly change the scope and redefine character relationships that feel a bit haphazard in execution. I still think the cell phone based powers and characters lend themselves to so much potential or maybe it's a particular fondness for similar survival stories (ie: Darwin's Game) still they reflect so much of our everyday reliance on our phones.

I'm not opposed to continuing reading S2 once it comes out and my hope is that author YOU.LING can deliver on some of the S1 plot threads.

Beware if anyone wants to read it, the author never does a season 2. So it's basically been axed.
