What to complain 'bout such a wonderful manga like this?
Best best shounen ever read. Hope that Naruto will soon surpass Dragon ball to become the bestselling manga of all the time XD

I enjoy Naruto. A lot. However, it's just a generic shonen story, bound to be repeated in many other stories yet to come. I continue to read largely because of the fandom, home of some of the nicest people you'll ever find. I also enjoy having a good rant every week because the lack of resolution in each chapter makes me nice and angry. I find all of the faults in Naruto being what keeps me into Naruto. It just wouldn't be the same if I wasn't horribly pissed off at Sasuke's character.

Overall though, Naruto is a good story, if a little weak plot wise.

As someone that started with the Naruto anime I have to say the manga is a rather big improvement, it still takes forever for anything to happen but at least the manga goes a lot faster plot progression wise, if you haven't read/seen Naruto yet it's by far one of the better shounen manga around.

This is the only manga series that I read every week, faithfully. Naruto and Sasuke are my two most favorite characters in any series. Seeing how Naruto continues to grow and how his main goal is to save Sasuke from the darkness, is what keeps me loving this series. I just hope that at some point in this series, Naruto is able to save Sasuke from the dark side.

yeah its the only reason im reading it at least in other series the charas are able to beat at least 1 enemy organization or even 1 important enemy but da naruplot.... keeps draggin n draggin n endlessly draggin probably it would end when naruto dies from a stroke at the young age of 80 still chasing bitchsuke XD

By that I mean ironically I read this manga mainly so I can tell people exactly why they shouldn't. The series starts off strong (first 13 or so Volumes) and introduces many interesting characters, each with their own, at least somewhat, unique abilities. It feels like a good, simple read, something that doesn't make you think much in order to enjoy it. Sadly things go to **** when the first "major" battle starts (Naruto vs. Gaara). The battle drags on forever and is an extremely uninteresting "ego-boxing" match. If I was to map the decline for this series, it all starts with this fight. After this point the chapters are often bogged down by numerous flashbacks and pathetic attempts to legitimize various characters internal struggles. At one point there are about 3-4 chapters in a row that are at least half flashbacks. Now when I say flashback it's important to note that I don't mean to an event that happened before the story started or to an even that happened parallel to the story but in another characters perspective; I mean flashbacks to events already depicted in the story, or in other words, "**** you've already read." The story stays steady until a few chapters before time the time jump starts. Basically these chapters feel like some kind of forced montage... really the whole time jump situation is kinda lame, "Oh yea... um... well nothing can happen for a few years so let's all just relax and train really hard or something, yea!" then things get better for awhile until the Itachi fight. This fight is where the series absolutely crashes. The fight is literally 20 chapters long and NOTHING happens. Let me say that again, nothing happens for 20+ chapters. Let me say that again, for 20ish chapters nothing happens. Let me say that again, 20 times in a row, you go to read a chapter of Naruto and the same exact thing happens - nothing. Let me say that about 16 more times and I've accurately described the Itachi fight. Fortunately the manga seems like it COULD end as soon as chapter 500... unfortunately I doubt it will.

well, it's one of the most popular series currently. as many have said, the series so far has pretty much been about sasuke, with a bit of naruto sprinkled in. some people say it's funny. it really isnt. fignts are ok. if you like the artwork, i suggest you visit the artist's brother, who's style is almost identical (666 satan, etc.) i honestly dont know why i continue to read it, just that it has the 'it's just cool' feel to it (Kakashi and the sharigan are badass)

..... just like the title. I mean, really. The manga was amazing when it first started. I mean, okay, not many of the characters were as likeable back then (but man, did I like Sasuke. Hate him now, though.) As everyone says these days, the series is focusing too much on Sasuke (the asshole. UGH, why? I think Kishimoto is in love with his character, or something). I only read a few chapters here and there. (But I have to say, what was with that rapper ninja in one of the recent chapters? Scary. Scary. Scary.) The main point is Sasuke, and Naruto has all but dissappeared. There are so many new charaters as well. When I went back to read a chapter, I was so confused! I would have thought I was reading a random Shoujo manga, or something. Except for SASUKE. I think he needs to go die now.

Or maybe Kishimoto could end the series. While he hasn't been killed by ex-fans. Then he could start a nice new series with a Sasuke lookalike as the main character.

Naruto has just one problem that could actually be solved really easily: the average reader is a teen. Kishimoto totally has the brains to do exactly the same manga but more cynic, with only calculative ninja, less stupid feelings and more realistic (the way Sai was before meeting Naruto for instance was really interesting). Still one of the best mangas I know (kishimoto is just too brilliant, sometimes I can't believe his imagination).

I also think the shinobi world that kishimoto came with is too big to be told in just one book, there should be dozens of kishimotos working with the same world rules and basis than Naruto's. They would create their own characters and countries, it would be just as a real world, existing by its own. Then the stories told in different books would just be the memories of a random person living in this world who witnessed or lived some extraordinary event. If I dream of such a project it's because when I read Naruto, I'm always wondering about what happens with the other countries, how does the world work, what kind of big war is happening right now in another country far away.

You know, this manga is terribly bad plot-wise, but I've seen worse. Definitely doesn't deserve a 10, but also is not as bad as 1. But, since hundreds of unreasonable people for whatever reason gave 10, so it is fair for me to give 1, just to balance things up.
