Didn't know what I was getting into with this one. Just randomly picked it up, but nothing good came out of it. No healthy relationships in this one, but I think that's the point. Still, I'm not a fan.

.....I’m sorry, but that story had no point to it.. I’ve read plenty of manga about abusive relationships and personally had to help someone who struggled with that.. and these relationships don’t just magically turn into love just because someone got a little jealous. Stories like these shouldn’t be written in one chapter because there needs to be sufficient time to develop the characters. Also, there wasn’t even any background as to why he fell for him in the first place? This is my second time reading it because I was surprised to see that I gave a 1/10 to something by Kyuugou when I pretty much like most of their other manga.. and now I see why.

The ending was somewhat ambiguous, which is not a bad thing, as the comments shows; some thought that Shouta fell in love with Kuraki while others disagree. I am one of the latter ones thus my rating.
There is character development and the narrative pacing is also nicely done.

Oh my God. This is one of the worst mangas I've ever read!! Where are the good reviews coming from?!!?
Someone commented the tropy of "super dominant/angry seme" is not their favorite. Well, that's the opposite of me. I actually love that kind of thing. However, this manga doesn't come anywhere near it! I read it first without realizing it was a one-shot, so when I got to the end of it, I though "well, this could get interesting", even though I rolled my eyes at the cliché. When I realized that was it, it was infuriating!!
If this was not a one-shot, they would have had to deal with the whole rape scene. Because yes, when a character bleeds, it is rape. And you know what's worse, I'm not event one to care that they got raped or whatnot! I'm not particularly sensible towards that. However, what it does need is a whole volume to develop the feelings after this kind of thing happens. Not an "oh, he raped me, so now I love him".
Either way, if this [/i]had [/i]been developed, it would be cliché the same way. Seme and uke become f*buddys. Seme falls in love with uke, who's in love with someone else. Seme rapes uke. Uke falls in love with seme. Ugh, so overdone.
Sorry, but that's a no for me.

If you would like to see my opinion, please read the review of Infinity9001 (wow and applause), the oneshot was grabbed there very well.
I would add only one thought: The title, Escape must mean here a lot: escaping from unrequited love, from abusive relationship, from lying to yourself and your partner about your relationship... I think the last one is mostly underlined here.

what an impact this manga leaves! not only is the art gorgeous, but the pacing, story, and ending were incredibly done in the short span of one chapter
definately a favorite for me, I would have to agree with one of the commenters below me about this being the best yaoi oneshot I've ever read

I first read this one-shot a long time ago but on every single one of my revisits, even until now, it still manages to shake me up with the maximum forceful impact that I experienced the first time. I feel that despite its length, the story had truly captured the core essence of the theme presented, which is usually very tough to achieve, especially with the issue of abuse being laid on the table here. Yes there's violence, there's blood, there's even rape, but all for their rightful purposes. The crude and somewhat brutal way of portraying the characters here is only the author's deliberate act to bring out their most inner thoughts and feelings. I must admit Kyuugou's style of artwork isn't exactly my cup of tea, but plot-wise speaking, up until now this is still my favourite work from her, one that I could come back from time to time just to savour the bittersweet taste.
This is amazing.

Kyuugou is probably my number one goddess of yaoi, and this oneshot proves her skill once more.
The art is as usual incredible. I spend a huge amount of time just looking at the tiniest gorgeous details, at how right the expressions feel.
The story is both subtle and brutal. The abuser is not painted in a sympathetic light, but the ending is left open. Open endings are the best way to end such short stories imo.
The characters and their psychology feel real and well developed.
Definitely a must-read!

I disagree with everyone who said that "its too short" or "I wish there was more", because the theme that Kyuugou wanted to portray in the characters are painful expressions with the theme of unrequited love. And I have never seen anything quite as bitter-sweet. The fact that it is short makes it go deeper into our heads, just as reading the first 3 chapters of a good book, we can't help but want more. It is a good thing that there was not more as it would be boring if they ended up together in a one-shot about unrequited love. Also, I would think that 9-go, as good of a mangaka he/she is, won't be able to keep up the painful relationship of the characters: Amamiya Shouta, Kuraki and Shiraishi-san to make it into a volume. If it is so, then the cockiness (and posessive-ness) of Kuraki, the unrequited love of Shouta towards Shiraishi-san, and their relationship would be "solved" and/or dissolve into nothing.
It could be featured in a tankoubon of compiled oneshots from the same author with the same theme.
I read this about a year ago and still loved it till now, although it did not deserve a 100/10, it got a 99/10 from me. Beautifully drawn characters and expressions, clever use of words, and great choice of character personality. Yabai.
