After catching up on "Homework of the Heart'' by Go Ara I decided to check out her other work. "Welcome" certainly demonstrates the same quietly mature emotional storytelling of HotH, but it is considerably more minimalistic with the art. In this instance, the art is a bit too basic for me to enjoy, but I will say the author makes the most of everything she puts on the page. "Welcome" primarily tells it's story via vignettes with the underlying narrative playing throughout. The minimalism even extends into the story, as many of these little episodic adventures are given just enough time for us to understand what is happening, but will immediately end thereafter. This gives the story an intangible, dream like quality. There is a rather large and depressing piece of information that was not given extrapolation despite the ending, which left me feeling a bit unfulfilled. But, I did enjoy my time with this manhwa and I think a lot of the good here has been taken and expanded upon and given greater artistic detailing in HotH (which I self-evidently recommend as well).
