KABOOM tells the romance between Takahashi Nobuyuki, a fitness instructor, and Hoshino Soichi, the "demon" bartender. The latter is the good looking bartender who is very popular among his regular costumers. While, Takahashi is the guy with low alcohol tolerance, willing to do anything just to spend time together with Hoshino-the boyfriend that he loves so much, and surprisingly well-loved by children at the swimming club. This romcom showcases the mangaka's good sense of humor. A hidden gem for those looking for a good laugh.

All in all this was a great collection of stories with both its ups and downs, with the ups far outweighing the downs for me. The title story and the second oneshot are both quite alright, though my personal favourite in the book is without a doubt the Kaboom series. The mangaka's sense of humour is just my style and it always shines so brightly when mixed with just the right dose of heartfelt sentiments, and that's exactly what Kaboom achieved. The last story is probably more of a miss than a hit for most people, but sensei still has a way of turning even harder-to-swallow stories into something more complex and mature than the usual BL flick, and for that I can't really complain too much.
Loved the rest except the last one

I swear Captive just ruined the volume for me. Though the story was somewhat acceptable to me (it's just -mild- rape or something), rape is still rape. Somehow I don't get why Sensei wrote that. I was happy when I finally found a mangaka like her (a mangaka with a lot of oneshots) to have zero involvement with rape or something similar, but I guess it kinda (juuuust a little bit) disappointed me to come across that manga.
Still, THE REST ARE GOOD READ!!!!! As expected of Yamada-sensei~

I really am wondering why Yamada-sensei makes a story board like Captive? Is that what sells? Because these type of sorties seem so inconsistent with the rest of her work.
My fav this time was the kaboom series; sure the length had a role to play, with more space its gets easier to flush out the characters more, however that's only a small part of it.
What was intriguing about this series was that alternating point of view which Yamada-sensei did. Even within the same story, on the same page, we see this alteration taking place. These type of narrative techniques are hard to pull of, since they require the paneling to be well done. Which sensei pulls off nicely; nothing is too big or too small. As always her Art is Beautiful.

All the stories are good, especially the last one. Things might not make sense to some slower readers, because a lot of things are implied rather than explicitly stated. Nevertheless, this is a manga no one should miss.

I am already a huge fan of Yamada Yugi's but damn, this manga blew my mind and made me fall in love even deeper.
The stories are all good! I loveeed the first one but I am very sad it's over so soon (only negative point about this whole manga).
The main story, about the fitness trainer and the Master of the bar was great as usual. I adore Yamada Yugi's sense of humor, it's one of the best out there, hands down.
But what really did it for me here was chapter 4 'Captive'. It is a must read!
Don't spoil yourself reading comments about it or anything, just read and enjoy!
Another great work - I have NEVER been disappointed by Yamada Yugi, she is easy one of the top BL Mangaka of all time.
Do yourself a favor and read this! (you might want to read the volumes in order though^^)

Yamada Yugi never disappoints me. The summary for this manga is a little misleading, because it only describes the first chapter. There is also the story of a couple that meets again after having broken up, a couple that loves each other very much but struggles with living together, and a man who is held captive out of revenge for a young man he rejected and ordered to "Die". Yamada-sensei does a fantastic job of playing with time in these stories. She tells them through events that happen out of order, yet flow beautifully. I love how she always manages to make her works original, and she's a genius at evoking emotion. Though the last story is a bit heartbreaking compared to the sweetness of the others, I still loved it, and I highly recommend reading this manga.
