The first few chapters didn't exactly thrill me, since superhero stories are a dime a dozen nowadays, but this is a series that actually gets better as you go on, and the author definitely hits their stride after a while.
It actually kind of reminds me a bit of Kimetsu no Yaiba, not in terms of story, but in terms of tone. It's an exceedingly heartfelt, earnest manga about doing the best you can, however you can, and getting up again even after you fail or make mistakes. The characters have real, down-to-earth conversations about their feelings, and the whole series is about opening up one's world to connect with others. It might get a little cheesy sometimes, but it's a feel-good cheesiness that reminds me of the wonder of Saturday morning superhero cartoons, where the heroes not only always saved the day but also managed to save people's hearts too.
And, honestly, that kind of optimism feels like exactly what we need in the world right now, and it warms my adult heart all the way up. Definitely recommend.
