From Vertical:
Yosuke's family has a strange tradition. Once every sixty years they receive an egg from a mermaid. When the egg matures, his family dutifully returns it to the sea, where the whole process is then repeated. In exchange for this favor, the merpeople bless his coastal town with bountiful catches of fish and calm seas. But as commercial development encroaches on the sleepy seaside village and Yosuke's father is lured away from tradition towards modern prosperity and turns the egg into a tourist trap, what will happen to the promise their family made to the mermaids' generations ... Don't judge a book by it's cover.

I've always been on the look-out for mermaid-related stories and the summary of this manga intrigued me.
Being more of a shoujo, josei (and *cough*cough* smut) fan, I was pretty surprised at how much I actually enjoyed reading this manga.
The artwork is pretty good albeit old school (well, my definition of old school, anyways) and although it's not as pretty as the ones I'm used to, it's better than most of the manga I've read so far.
The plot's amazing. I only wish that this was longer than the mere 6 chapter. That being said, each chapter is just so tantalizing - taunting it's readers with the little glimpses of what's next to come.
It's refreshing to be able to read something like this. Not too deep, dark or disturbing. Simply PERFECT

Only two chapters, but already atmospheric and full of suspence. I look forward to more chapters.
Love old stories...

I honestly love reading 90’s manga. The art, the suspense, everything that’s released around the time period is so original. This story was visually so beautiful, I honestly wished it was longer so it could develop the plot even more. At times I was a little lost, but it was still a nice story.

Although quite short and seemingly rushed towards the end, I really enjoyed this--not just as a manga, but as a story. As stated previously, it is atmospheric and suspenseful (perhaps, overall, it was even a bit too suspenseful when compared to the tranquil opening of the story). The author knows how to maintain a perfect balance in tickling one's curiousity and fear, and the art is beautiful and affecting in its style, arrangement, and conduct. I only wish it were longer. The author had plenty more room to explore (in both its story and themes).
This is a bit deeper and necessitates more patience than your average manga, but some (including myself) may consider these good attributes. I can only recommend reading this all at once; it is a very purging story.
