Yoshiaki is entering a school that is famous for its fights and violence. He chose to go there for just that reason, and he intends to be the strongest one there. When he first arrives, he helps out a girl called Homura, who is being picked on by some guys. When she asks him to be her "sword" afterward, Yoshiaki doesn't know how to respond. Apparently, students of the school team up in pairs; a "sword" and a "master". Others advise him not to associate with the girl, who is a "Rank F", as she probably won't live very long. However, Yoshiake is not thrilled with the idea of abandoning her to die.

I found this series and thought to myself, I can see this going on for a while, like Naruto long, but sadly what could have been a series of awesome shonen fights, semi-decent plot, and mild harem romance came to naught. It was axed so shame but it was good as far as I read could be retook up but like Shiina Dark, Black Cat sequel reboots are rare and near impossible to find.

Pretty good fight scenes. Story is okay but not exactly the best. The power system of the story, however, is a bit flawed as so far its only Yoshiaki's strength that has been relevant in all the fights. Since she doesn't increase her territory, he doesn't get any special powers. She relies too much on her guns to fight rather than increasing her own abilities to help him, and of course in any close range fighting manga, guns are useless. If they can improve the plot, deepen character development, and a few other aspects, it could become a really good manga. However, it appears that it says axed, so I hope the story improves in whatever chapters it has left.

Unrealized potential...

Sadly, this one doesn't put up anything more than an average effort. The beginning and characters had a lot of potential while not overly losing itself in cliches, but the end of the 1st Vol. on to the finish in Vol. 3 turned into a the standard shounen fair. While not wholly original, the the scenario was an interesting one, a battle royal high-school life to see who could become the supreme king. The male main lead was interesting too, reminding me a lot of another manga Kongou Bancho's main character. Yet, as I said before, it all too soon devolves into typical shounen tripe.

Overall, its not a horrible manga. Just an average and slightly disappointing read for in between the better mangas out there.
