Kind of Boring Actually

This series was okay. I almost finished it, but once I got to the end of volume 11, I just couldn't bear it anymore. The plot was pretty typical, and nothing too interesting. There wasn't a lot of development between the two main characters, which kind of took away from the whole romance aspect of the series. The main character was okay. She was typical, and of course she was dumb as in many shoujo mangas/manwhas. All in all, it was an okay read, but it was kind of boring.

Honesty is such a lonely word

If you're patient, you will get blown away, kind of. The premise was what got me, traditional enemies become lovers.
There are a lot of bishies
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Who end up getting pretty annoying and or pathetic at times
but I was seriously on the fence whether to continue before I reached volume seven but then the heroine totaly made me love her complety when she did the thing that is rarely seen in shoujo.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
She actually tells the damn hero she likes him, she takes the initiative of being true to herself and being honest and not letting the tension bring their relationship down

Still reading but now, I'm looking forward to what's going to happen as I read more. I just hope I won't get bored the slowness of it all, but gosh the heroine becomes pretty badass later on, love her already
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
What kind of ordinary shoujo tomboy heroine pins her supposed-alpha male hero down infront of everyone on a desk and says when she wants something, she gets it and not even Ryung is going to stop her, major role reversal, people!!! Awesome I say!

I entered with normal expectations so I wasn't surprised about stuff that would turn off most people and I'm just focusing on its positive points which it has aplenty despite some things that just make me want to rant. The heroine's general attitude amuses me, distracting me from getting on the rant train and general WTFery.
Be prepared to facepalm...a lot.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Most of the facepalming has something to do with a pair of melodramatic bros. Someone please stamp a huge brother-complex tag on this.

This is for those looking for something not particularly deep but enjoyable nontheless.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Starting v10, I was screaming obsceneties at the pathetic guys and rooting for the heroine, even if she is a huge lovable idiot. I'm just reading this for her now and whatever happy ending she gets

This has tons of humor, mostly because of the heroine and her badassery and general baka-ness. I grew to loving the hero because of her, not just liking anymore. There are some touching moments but those are mostly because the women are strong and awesome enough to be honest.

I rate this fic based on this page and the chapter it's in:
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/angel_diary/v11/c005/13.html
Just finished reading and I'm happy with it, it's awesome and everything gets tied up neatly

Wasted potential

This had a really good idea behind it, but it was badly executed.
Despite the 12 volumes, I felt as if everything was being rushed, despite not much happening... The characters were quite plain and did not had much to them, particularly the main characters.
We barely have any 'bonding time' with the main heroine of the story(if you can call her that) so it makes it difficult to both understand and sympathize with her. I often got the feeling she was just there, like a secondary characters, without much personality to her, just a 'dumb character' without anything else to her.
The romance was seriously lacking, I think there are only about 2 or 3 'couple moments' in the whole 12 volumes, so I'm a bit let down by this too.

As I said, if you're a fan of the genre, when you read the description you get the feeling that it's gonna be a great series as the idea sounds nice, but when you get down to it, it lacks any depth.

Bi Wal!!!!

OMG I am in love with this manhwa, it's so good!!! Dong Young is so cute and I feel for her I would have done the same. She's really naive but that's what makes the story so funny. Bi Wal is just awesome, he's so handsome, and mysterious. You start wonder why he really is so into Dong Young. The plot is really good I was hooked after the first volume. Sorry that my review suck, I didn't really explain much >_<.
This manhwa is really good and you should read it. Bi Wal is super hot, the art is wonderful and it's one of my favorites!!!

It's not an incredible manga that takes your breath away, but it IS very interesting and original. The art is well-done and clean. It looks more like Japanese shoujo manga art than Korean manhwa (manhwa characters usually look edgier and their eyes darker). The guys are hot! The storyline is interesting and cute and has enough action and suspense to get me flipping the pages as fast as I can. It doesn't go overboard on the romance and has kept the humor light. The mix between school life and fantasy is wonderful. It is a manhwa that entertains without trying too hard. The characters are also very likable and a good amount of screen time (or is that page time?) is given to each of them. Usually what makes and breaks a manga for me is the heroine: this manhwa's heroine isn't exactly kickass (like Kyoko from Skip Beat) but she has got a similar aura to that of Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club- She's dressed like a boy, oblivious, and has a guy hanging around her all the time annoying her. She's also pretty relaxed for someone who gets demons and ghosts going after her. Though you don't really get to see her fight, she can be surprisingly powerful (check out volume 6 for an OMG! demonstration) - well she IS a princess of heaven after all.

I didn't give a 10 star because one person annoyed me a lot
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Do-Hyun is really annoying me, I liked him in the beginning because he is kind of a Tsundure boy (has a cold image but is actualyl very caring and nice) but I hated that he always stick up in Dong-Young's personal stuff. He seemed to be more like a stalker when his love began to grow for her. I was so mad when he tried to ruin Bi-Wal's marriage with her, like seriously!? They're meant to be together anyway =_=

The story itself is really interesting, it's between both heaven and hell and how they can actually become in peace instead of war, war and war. And that the run-away princess is quite interesting, and I'm really happy that we get to know the 4 guardians histories and some chapters dedicated to them ^___^

Unrealistic and uninspiring

Like Hanjae and Takahashi4me have mentioned, the begining of the story is promising but eventually falls flat due to many new characters and a weak and unrealistic drama. I'm referring to the family drama between
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Bi-Wal/Ryung/their sister
, which I find very boring and too melodramatic. Many misunderstandings in this series occurred when the characters were younger but weren’t really that significant (in my opinion), but the author managed to make them seemed so, and therefore more drama. Even the concepts of heaven, hell, demons, and the Four Guardians (which are all interesting at first) but become so unrealistic (Does the heaven only have teenagers and Meat Buns as guardians and generals? Where are all of the adults in heaven? Is there no one competent or diligent enough in heaven?)

Most of the characters are utterly forgettable: Ee-Jung, a character who is so insipid and only concerns himself with his sister that I actually forget all about him until he reappears again, Woo-Hyun (along with Ee-Jung and Bi-Wal) adds comedic relief most of the time but is sidelined after his misunderstanding with
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Ah-Hin
is cleared up, Ah-Hin is one of the more interesting supporting characters that eventually becomes a wallflower after the

said misunderstanding with Woo-Hyun.

I find Dong-Young, the titular runaway princess of heaven, to be a typical, bland, lazy, and hapless character (although, I shouldn’t have expected her to be anything else since this is a shoujo manhwa after all). Even the other guys I find interesting, Ryung and Bi-wal, have reduced to unremarkable characters. The only character I don’t have much to complain about is Doh-Hyun, since he did what he thought was right and was the only one who actually fought against
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Ryung.
He is possibly the only one that has some character development.

The ending is too convenience for my liking, since it ends with practically a family conversation between hell family. The lazy and runaway princess decides to shape up and takes over her family responsibility and everyone lives happily ever after. The romance between the two leads is as believable and fairytale-ish as the rest of the series. The fact that I gave it a 6 is quite lenient, but since I read it for free and it was a quick and fun read (translation: my head haven’t exploded yet and, overall, it kills some of my free time during the summer) so I have nothing else to complain about.
